For all the years I've gone to Disney, I never knew they had a half-marathon. I am so excited because I have been trying to get myself to get up and get going and get back into shape. Nothing has motivated me lately, -until now.
I mentioned to my family that I wanted to do this, and the real shocker is that my grown daughters and husband not only support me, they want to do it too! I am an average walker (about 4mphs) but haven't been doing much since last summer. I figure this will be one of my last chances to get this 50 year old body back into shape. Does anyone know how soon you have to register? Should I wait until I start working out to make sure it's working, or sign up and let that be my motivator?
I am so excited that this may actually be the carrot I need! :)

Lani actually had a wonderful 2nd installment on her half marathon series today... She had mentioned that they fill up quickly but I would love to ask that same question as I am trying to do the same (get into shape to do the half) and I am caught between signing up now and making sure of training or waiting until next year
Congratulations on your decision to give a distance challenge a try! :)
It's really hard to tell when they'll sell out, but I suspect if you register during April you should be fine. I'll keep my eyes open to see if I hear if it starts to get full.
To a certain extent, it's kind of a chicken/egg situation. Without setting specific goals for oneself, it's easy just to keep putting it off. So maybe signing up for the half might be what it takes to get serious?

Lani, I'm hooked! I've been going to Disney any chance I could since 1971, whenever I could get down to Florida. My family has always regretted that we never brought a brick (at the time we thought it was just more than we could afford) But the thought of a half-marathon down Main Street, well, maybe I can't afford to miss this opportunity either!
I agree with the chicken/egg analogy, and I hope by the end of next week, I'm signed up and on my way..
Tks. for the encouragement!!! I'm starting to believe in this dream.
