Will this Bachelor with Charlie O'Connell be different from any other Bachelor? Probably not, but it'll be fun to watch anyway:
This season will be unlike any other on The Bachelor, as we strip down some of the formalities and offer viewers a less structured version of the program. On the first day there will be no limos, no gowns and no traditional rose ceremony. This time there are no rules and anything can happen, as we give Charlie the opportunity of a lifetime to discover if love is out there waiting for him. In this series, the roses can come at any time.
In the premiere episode, things begin with a rapid-dating session that ends with an unexpected elimination in which Charlie needs to immediately say goodbye to five women. By the end of the evening, 12 women will be left to vie for Charlie's attention. All three exotic overnight dates take place in one location, with the first ever "on-the-road" rose ceremony occurring right there.
Yeeeeewwww. I mean, has any of the pairings from any of the Bachelor shows ever actually lasted? I can't stand this show. It's so shallow and superficial. It's like soap opera on steroids.

I think Trista and Ryan are still together, but only because I can't recall it being reported that they had split.

Byron and Mary are still together, and Trista and Ryan as previously mentioned.
I am a sucker :) I will be watching it. I have read online that this will be the last ever Bachelor or Bachelorette show if the ratings do not improve.
Side note...one of my favorite shows just announced it will not be returning next year. Third Watch :crying: I will miss it ;)

I will be watching this season for the first time. Why after I have been a major Bachelor-hater since the beginning? Because Charlie O'Connell was on Sliders, one of my favorite TV shows. :)

THANK YOU FOR SOLVING MY MENTAL MYSTERY!! LOL, I knew I had seen him somewhere and that was it. I really never watched the show but I saw plenty of previews for episodes. My little sister was a Sliders fan.

Oh I loved Sliders! I still watch reruns every once in a while on the Sci-Fi channel. :)

Well, Charlie did appear in two episodes in bit parts on Sliders, but I fear you are thinking of his brother, Jerry O'Connell, who starred in the series and can currently be seen on Crossing Jordan.
If you look at Charlie's credits on imdb.com, his acting career hasn't exactly been either illustrious or steady.... ;)
Sorry!

Not sure what this means ... if the final rose will be live again ... but:
In a first for the show, the producers are letting O'Connell spend time with his final two choices between now and the May finale. In the past, the Bachelor/ette and his her chosen mate had to endure several months of forced separation between the taping and airing of the show.

Charlie was a regular in the second to last season after they "lost" Wade to the Kromagg breeding camp.
p.s Edited to add: Look closer at his imdb.com credits. It says ""Sliders" (1995) TV Series .... Colin Mallory (1998-1999)" :)

Okay, that makes sense then. I was looking further up and just two episodes were listed there. I hereby take it back that I thought he was just a bit player.... ;) :D
(Although I'm still not convinced that he will be a good bachelor for this show. ;))

Oh yeah!! Something to watch while riding the exercise bike for an hour. The Bachelor shows are always better than the Bachelorette ones. I hope to see some really good cat fights and name calling. Heh heh heh!!

I liked Charlie, and I'll probably keep watching because I think he's funny (unlike the annoying football player season, he was awful). Of course it's obvious he doesn't want to settle down.
I only watched the first hour (I don't stay up past 10:00 unless it's a series finale), so I missed what happened. Is Sara B (the labor and delivery nurse) still in it?

Yup - these girls are hard core. No false beliefs about marriage -- i think he just wants a girlfriend -- very low-key this time around.....

It got kind of hazy for me too as the night wore on, but I think he dismissed four of the brunettes in the group and blonde Danushka, the model who thought she was all that and a bag of chips. ;)
So far, I didn't like the free-for-all style of choosing who went on what group dates, and watching Charlie get totally drunk on the "night club" date was not very enjoyable. I thought it demonstrated that he's a party animal and he's looking for someone who likes the same.
But yeah, I'll continue to watch. It's one of the best train wrecks on television! :D

I hung up the phone on my dear sweet friend just to watch the show and I still got interrupted several times. I missed everything that was said at the rose ceremony at the end of the night , but I did hear the speech from the swimsuit model/FBI agent. The look on Charlie's face when she hugged him at the nightclub was priceless!!! :fez:

Charlie O'Connell? Isn't that kind of like having Frank Stallone or The Other Swayze Brother? How D List can you get?

My wife is way into these Bachelor and Bachelorette shows, but I just can't stand them. Kills a few brains cells every time I glance at the TV and it's on.

This is definitely going to be an interesting season with all the cat fights and so on...this group of ladies is out for blood...I cannot see him proposing to anyone though...he seems like he likes his bachelor status.

I certainly hope this isn't the last showing of this show...I'm so addicted!! I even roped my fiance, (now husband :) ) into watching it with me. We critique everyone the whole show. There is no way Charlie is ready to settle down. He loves his bachelor status, and just wants to have some fun. He's pretty entertaining to watch though.
Also, some of these girls are definitely not looking for marriage either. I can't remember who said it, but one said..."she's there for the game and competition". Yeah, not exactly committment material, but she got a rose! We'll definitely be watching this every monday night :)

Charlie was on Sunday night's episode of Crossing Jordan with his brother, Jerry.
I don't think he is doing this for a girlfriend; I think he is doing this for the publicity.

Josiegirl71...I think you are right!
Did anyone see Monday night's show? If so, can you please fill me in on what I missed??
Hey Scaeagles...tell your wife I totally "get" why she likes watching this "soap." :D

Only two girls got one-on-one dates and he had to decide if those two girls were going to get a rose or go home. One of the single date girls died her blonde because Charlie "seems to like blondes" and she wanted to show him that she is spontaneous. Well, he ended up sending her home.
The other single date girl, Sara, had a really good date with him and got a rose.
This was all followed by the normal cat fights that these women seem to be having over Charlie. You have to wonder if any of them have caught on to the fact that he is just looking for someone to party with (and probably have sex with). ;)
