Even though I'm a Mac user, I've never ignored the threat of an attack. I've always kept a virus program active. It may not be fool proof, but it's better than nothing.

Even though I'm a long time Windows user, I think Mac's in general are safer than Window's machines. Not to mention, probably more reliable.

*shrug* My computer running WinXP has crashed once in 3 years of daily use (installing an Apple product, no less...). When I used Macs, they would crash every 1-2 hours, but then again, I guess I was overtaxing it, doing horribly complicated things like 'saving a file' or 'minimizing a window'.

Anyone who is really concerned about attacks should run Linux. But then, there aren't many games for it... :)

Sort of Ditto. We have had virtually zero crashes or stability problems since all our PCs went to Windows XP several years ago.

Some of our creative team use Macs (we currently run 6 G5s, 9 G4s, and a few G4&3 iBooks/Powerbooks), and we're always having problems with them. It's actually been interesting to see many of the Mac camp around here slowly gravitate to Windows platforms over the years (I'm one of them, though I still have to maintain somewhat of a proficiency on Macs). Windows platforms now dominate our office in disciplines where Macs once ruled. I'm always hearing someone say, "I can't do that on my Mac" while I never hear anyone say "I can't do that on my PC."

And those Virtual PC programs for Macs? Ugg. You're lucky if you get them to pull it off 70% of the time, in my experience.

Sounds like user error! :p

Just goes to show you. My experience with PC's is that they make really ugly paperweights. If the next generation of Macs came with viruses pre-installed, I'd still buy one over a, yuck, PC. In a heartbeat. I just prefer to edit without problems. Call me picky!
