Anyone have experience with the Combi Travel Savvy Stroller with Acoustic Canopy? It's on sale at Babystyle.com for $68.99 (okay, that's not a great price, but it's decent). I'm looking for something that might be light/small enough for travelling on planes and has at least a partial recline for sleeping. The closed size is still 14x10x37, so I'm guessing that means I'd have to check it in at the gate, right? Is it really that big of a hassle to check it in? And then do I just wait at the gate when I get off the plane, and someone retrieves it, or do I have to go to baggage claim?
I do like the idea of being able to play kids songs while I'm pushing it around to keep the little one occupied (although is that really necessary?!).

I have never heard of that feature--you can play your own tape or CD? That sounds like just the thing to keep a fidgety kid happy.

We gate checked our stroller four times going to and from Kansas City. I found it to be pretty painless. The only time it was a hassle was when we our flight into Denver was late for our connecting flight to LA. I had to stand behind a woman who was trying to change her seat assignment on one of the busiest flying days of the year and was arguing with the airline dude about it.
Even with that little episode, I would definitely gate check my stroller again. On the way out to KC, we were in Chicago for hours and the stroller was very helpful. We used it in KC and LA, too. And we only had to wait for it once-- it was usually waiting for us when we deplaned.

Yeah, go check out the specials at babystyle.com
Actually, my mom just bought a Cosco Scamper stroller at Kmart for $29.99...it's got a partial recline and a parent tray for holding drinks. Can't beat that! You'll be seeing me with that the next time we meet at DL! I'll probably be using it more than my mom!

Hi Dlandmom!
Have you forgotten about me? I hope your holidays were great!
Funny, before our trip to WDW this past December we actually went out and bought the Combi stroller that you inquired about, we now question how we ever did without it!
There was no hassle to check it in, they tag it on one end for you and it's waiting for you at your destination, quick and painless (in most cases) It's also quite quick and easy to fold up and carry, the only complaint was that the basket was kind of small, but it wasn't THAT bad.
Please e-mail me, I miss our chats!
How's May looking? (I needed to throw that in...sorry)

Bobcat! Great to hear from you! I've actually been under the weather for a week now...ugh, it comes and goes! However, I think we've been just missing each other with our e-mails! Hey, I'm home all weekend, so send me the next installment of your trip report! How awesome that you got that stroller! I'm going to play around with the one my mom just bought since it's got the features we really wanted (relatively lightweight, partial recline for sleeping, and parent tray). I may still get that Combi!

Ahh...in some ways I miss those stroller days (areas for packing stuff...and a great leaning post)...
But...In some ways...glad those days are past.
Enjoy those days...they go by way too fast!;)
