So, I use meal replacement shakes to try and up my total meal intake - otherwise I don't eat enough in a day. So, that means 3 shakes a day.
I've for the longest time been drinking myoplex ready-to-drink shakes, and those are expensive. So, I finally gave in and started buying myoplex in the little powder pouches. I even broguht a hand hand mixer.
This was a msitake - hand mixers do an awful good job of airating rather than really mixing so i had a nice clumpy frothy goo-shake. For eanyone who does shakes, frothy is evil because it makes it harder to down cuz it takes up more space.
I essentially drank half the shake and gave up on the rest.
So, with all my packets am I going to have to just resort to the blender? I don't recall having much luck with that either in the past. All my shakes end up sludge-like. Any ideas?

Now let me say not to many have I hear that can not get in enough food ,I wish this was me!!
I love blended shakes in the blender, I also add some ice and really blend well. I of course love my shakes thick.yum now I better have one for lunch :)
Some of you will remember waaaay back to the mid-80s when Oprah did the 600 calorie/day liquid diet thing. I did it, too. I think I lost 20 lbs. in two blinks of an eye.
And just like Oprah, I gained it back in one blink.
I got really good at mixing up that powder. If you don't have access to a blender, the best is to get an actual hand shaker, like a martini shaker with a lid, only plastic.

I've got a few hand-shakers - they keep sending them as a "free gift" when i buy vitamins online. I always thought they didnt do too good of a job, maybe just more shaking?

I used to use the hand shakers with the blade inside. it broke up the powder so it did not clump, If I had it I would send it to you Mark, but it is made by tupper ware and if you look on ebay I bet they still have them.
Add the liquid first, then the powder. That helps.

I used to use the Myoplex pouch MRS too. If you aren't going to blend it then you do have to use a shaker. Like 3894 said, add the water then the powder and shake shake shake shake shake. I've had some bad experiences with some shakers though where the lids don't close all the way but they look closed and you start shaking and you get it all over the place. I like the ones available at GNC. It's a screw-top lid that seals very well. The snap-top lids have always been too hard to seal or too hard to open.
Yes, Myoplex is extremely expensive compared to most other brands. I prefer to use just straight whey protein. It's much better for a post workout shake, it's much cheaper, and you can just eat a piece of fruit or some veggies with it and you've got a good in-between-meal snack. You can also add some other stuff to it if you'd like to create your own MRS. Just mix a scope of whey powder, a scoop of casein powder (or milk-protein isolate), and a tsp of glutamine. Throw in a Tbsp of flax seed and/or 1/4 cup of raw (or cooked) whole oats and blend well.
For price, taste, and mixability I've found that Optimum Nutrition's chocolate whey is the best. I've been trying other brands though just to see if I can find something better. I've tried All the Whey (bleck) and I'm using some stuff from Costco right now (double bleck). I'll be going back to ON when this Costco stuff is gone.
