I tried to install it, any other free anti virus out there or do I need to buty one today?? help! kadiehl 03-16-2005, 07:22 AM The computer technicians who built my computer for me at work put this on my computer...after a couple of days of this, I had had it and removed it and then put Norton Antivirus back on. My co-worker had those same technicians put it on her computer and she has a ton of problems updating hers as well. Cancer Norm 03-16-2005, 10:58 AM I have never used AVG but I do use Microsoft Spyware, Spybot, and Adaware. All are excellent in my view and all are free. One Anti spyware won't get them all, use 2 or 3. You can check them out on CNET.com. There many user reviews in the site. mrcoffee 03-16-2005, 01:53 PM I have never used AVG but I do use Microsoft Spyware, Spybot, and Adaware. All are excellent in my view and all are free. Hakuna: Did you check AVG's support website? That'd be the first place to look.. The AVG Control Center icon is grey. What does it mean? I have add ware, and also spybot already. I believe anti virus is also a must. :) stan4d_steph 03-16-2005, 02:48 PM Be sure to fully uninstall the AVG before you install whatever new software you get. I had Norton AntiVirus on my home PC before I switched to a Mac. Norton is good and keeps on top of updates. Cancer Norm 03-16-2005, 02:58 PM AVG is anti-virus, not anti-spyware; two different things.. oooops! You are correct sir. My Bad. Cancer Norm 03-17-2005, 10:04 AM BTW, as if anyone cares, I do like and use Norton Antivirus. it does work and has alerted and shut down pages that were infected with a potential virus. The 2005 version says it also protects against worms, well we will see. I don't like the Norton SystemWorks. It just caused too many problems. I uninstalled it right away. Microsoft is suppose to come out with a Antivirus program sometime this year and if it's anything like their Spyware program it should be pretty good. Maybe they'll give that away too.
