View Full Version : Who is going to diet before their Disney vacation?
ima_mickeyfan 03-15-2005, 09:25 AM  I just realized that it has be 5 years since I went to disneyland, and in that 5 years I have gained love handles..so now I am on this major diet to loose weight since disneyland rides are not all big people friendly...I was wondering what other people are doing to get fit for their trip.. or is it just me?? lol
Hakuna Makarla 03-15-2005, 09:35 AM Me, yes me but thats not going to be a big loss, I am going in 16 days :)
dlandnut 03-15-2005, 10:04 AM We're going in June and I hope to have an additional 10 pounds off the old body. That way, when I wear my jeans, I don't have to worry about breathing because they're too tight, lol! :) Besides that, I already know I'm dining at the Blue Bayou, and at Club 33 in Disneyland, as well as the Crab Cooker in Newport Beach. I'll be darned if I'm going to "skimp" when I eat. Yum, yum!!! ;)
SCUBAbe 03-15-2005, 10:07 AM are you kidding? DL is my diet. I always lose weight when I go there. We went down there on friday night. When I put my jeans on on sunday they were really lose already. Maybe it;s because i don't eat alot when I'm there and I walk alot.
here's what I ate last weekend.
Friday: a banana, a sandwich wrap (this was at work) At DL my mother and I shared the pasta at pizza port. another banana at the hotel
Sat. crab cakes at the BB and my mother and I shared a creme burlee. around 5pm we had a gibson girl sunday (I ate about half when my stomach started to hurt...too rich...LOL)
sun. a small parfait from mcd's and fish tacos for dinner.
I really think it's the amount of walking that helps my weight lose their. At home I just do the firm videos...:)

If it's just love handles, then there shouldn't be a problem. If it's 300 pounds on a 5-foot body, then it might take a few years to healthily take that off. "Morbidly obese" is the term often used to describe those who cannot sit comfortably and safely on rides.
If you're not used to walking a few miles and standing on your feet for fourteen of your waking hours per day, then exercise will be more imortant than losing the weight.
Eighty8Keys 03-15-2005, 10:40 AM Our next trip is in October and I'm trying to lose at least 20 lbs before then. Every pound I can lose beforehand is a pound I don't have to carry around with me while we're there. I'm also trying to do as much walking as possible to get myself in shape and strengthen my legs. I try to walk during my breaks at work and get to the gym 3 times a week. Of course, once I get there, "diet" isn't part of my vocabulary. I fully plan to indulge in all my favorite treats, i.e., Monte Cristo sandwich, churros, ice cream, turkey leg, Mickey Mouse waffles, Dole whips. That's what keeps me motivated now. Because of all the walking, I've lost between .5 and 1.5 lbs during each of our last three trips, so I don't worry about my diet while I'm there.
Gramiangel420 03-15-2005, 11:20 AM No time to diet! I guess I will just have to go as I am! :)

Except that some of us who are morbidly obese can still get on rides safely and comfortably (except for Astro Orbiter and Orange Stinger).

kadiehl 03-16-2005, 07:15 AM I am...LOL...I figure in a year and a half (over that actually) I should be able to lose some weight...LOL...it will take me that long! But yes, I would like to be thinner when we go back so that my feet do not hurt as bad and I will be brave enough to put on a bathing suit to take my kids to one of the All Star Movies pools when we go back!

I went on Astro Orbiter and had no issues sitting in it and I'm "morbidly obese". The only problem I kind of had was getting out of it but only because I really didn't have anything to grab onto to pull me up.
Mark Goldhaber 03-16-2005, 06:33 PM I'm thinking that my Astro Orbiter problems are really less due to my front-to-back size and more to do with my built-very-wide issues. I'm short, but I'm built like a refrigerator. (Plus the belly.) My hips were in severe pain from trying to fit in there. I think I'll have the same problem even after I lose weight. (Note that I specifically didn't say "if" there. It's gonna happen.)
