I'll probably answer my own question correctly, but I was hoping an admin or mod would confirm it. My question is regarding the post history of members. Each list caps off at 500 recent posts made by the member. Is this to save on bandwidth and/or disk space?

it does, where does it say this?Go to any member's profile and click on the "Find All Posts" by this member. A search results page will appear. Click on the "Last Page" button toward the top right or bottom right corner of the list. The list only shows the last 500 posts made by the member.

It isn't so much a disk space issue as a performance issue if the system tries to find and return all 9000 of Nigel2's posts at the same time.

I belive that 500 is a global limit for any type of search (over the years vBulletin's search feature has been made much more efficient but it still isn't particularly advanced). If you want to go back further than 500 posts you can piece it together by going to the Advanced Search page and doing a search on the user name combined with limiting it to certain time periods.
