Has anyone seen those sling type thigs for older babies that help support baby while holding him/her on your hip?? I saw one in a magazine a while back and was thinking how great it would be to use while standing in ride lines at Disneyland. It almost looks like a like padded seat wih a back support that rests on one hip while the strap goes across the opposite shoulder.
Anyone have one and if so, how do you like it?? My son is 9 months old and quite heavy! My arms were really tired after just a couple of hours on our last trip in Feb and we are going again for Easter.
Comments anyone??

That sounds like a hip hammock. I think they're sold under that name. I had one but didn't love it. I do love my sling (I have the one sold here: www.rosadosling.com ). Use it all the time--carried my then 6 month old in it for a 5 day DLR trip in December 2003. Will use it next month (!!!!!) for our just booked it today (can you tell I'm excited?!) 5 day trip to DLR.
The hip hammock can ride a little too close to the neck, in my experience. However, any body carrier should be easier than just using your arms for waiting in line.

My wife has a hip hammock and loves it. It was a life saver during our last trip to Disney. She takes it everywhere a stroller is just not feasable. She finds it comfortable, and so does my son. However, not everyone is built the same which is why other products may be better suited for other people. She went through other types of slings only to find this one to be the best for her.

Thanks for the info...I found the hip hammock at Target today and believe I will go ahead and get it for our trip next weekend...my little guy gets SO heavy while standing in line (he's a "mamma's boy" too, so we can't take turns very often, hehe)
Anyway...thanks again for the replies!

I have one that is not like a hip hammock but is a pouch they go into with leg holes and it goes across the body. I used it alot at WDW before my daughter was 1. Loved it. That is one of the few things I have NOT gotten rid of.

I had a Maya Wrap Pouch and it was great!!! You can use it as a hip-carry, back-carry, front-carry... lots of variations, and position baby in different ways too. Plus it has much less fabric than an adjustable sling, so it folded down really small and was easy to keep in the diaper bag and take anywhere.

I slung my daughter for the full two days at disneyland in a Maya Wrap. The ability to reposition her in several ways really saved my back and hers too I would imagine!
