I was wondering, how is DLP's space mountain different from WDW's space mountain? The outside look really interesting but i've never heard anything about it.

I've never been on any Space Mountain apart from the DLP one - but what happens is you are catapulted upwards (like California Screamin' if you've been on that) and then into the dark - there are a couple of corkscrews - and complete loops so you do spend a lot of time upside down and being sped in all directions - it is incredibly fast - unbelievably so - it is not dissimilar to the Rock n Roller coaster if the Florida one is the same as the DLP one.

Of the course it is about to reopen with a new theme having just been refurbished.

A CM friend of mine told me Space Mountain at DLR is Re-opening in July, I thought he told me 17th, however here we are discussing Space Mountain: Mission 2 at DLP, which opens on 9th April, with soft openings the week before :) I think you must be getting the 2 confused!

Soft opening is when they open a ride before the official opening date, for example in DLP they have already mailed all the shareholders, including myself, inviting them to a preview the sunday before the rides due to open, rumour has it all passeport annuel holders will be getting a similar invite shortly :)

Space Mountain: Mission 2 is the same track layout as the old Space mountain (not the same as track layout of WDW or DLR space mountain as it includes inversions) but it has a new background story to it (To the edge of the Universe rather than to the moon) and inside there will be new effects and theming, and rumoured new trains. Will know more on the 9th April (well before then from the preview people, unfortunately, when they announced the previews I had already booked Eurostar and the Holiday Inn for 9-11 april)

I can't wait, really excited about this Attraction Relaunched ;) (OK thats part of their marketing slogan, attraction relaunched hehe)

Wow, wow, wow! Incredible site... I'm glad to see that a domain was registered solely for this re-launch. I guess it somehow makes the anticipation greater. I like the design of the Recruitment Center.

kmatsumura: Just wanted to make sure you know this thread is about Disneyland Paris's Space Mountain, not Anaheim's (I mean, reading your initial comment seemed like you were referring to Anaheim).

Wish I could go back to Paris this year and repeat my travels from 2004 (WDW in January, Paris in March). I'm hoping 2006 will be that year.

There was an official announcement made last Friday (I think) that the Space Mountain in Disneyland (Anaheim)will re-open on Friday July 15th. The new effects, lighting and soundtrack are going to be similar to the new elements that will be included on the Space Mountain:Mission II in DLP. Both attractions however, will keep their same track layouts (Anaheim will have a brand new track but it will be a duplicate of the original).

Pokey :)

Hm... I'm not sure if I'm big on that new sign. I thought the original sign was really cool, with that little model moving on top of it. Also - was the show building painted? The blue in that picture you posted, Olivier, looks different to me.

Hi bluepearl,
Yes the building was painted a few month ago, but they kept exactly the original colors. I agree, it looks a bit "too blue", but in my point of view this picture was enhanced, so the colors look different in reality... ;)
I can't wait to see how it's like lightened.
