Today I spent about 4 hours gardening. I know it sounds easy, but it required digging and weeding. I love the rain, but I do not love all the weeds we have from it. My back is/was better, but now it's sore from weed pulling. We also planted another grape vine, strawberries, cat nip and poppies. Tomorrow I will start planting the summer garden seeds. :) (we are also planning to got to lowes (if it's open) to buy two cherry trees and a peach tree. :)

I also saw about 6 mosquitoes. It seems early for mosquitoes to be out. This summer is going to e bad....west nile here we come...*sigh*

I have got to take a day off from this. I am definitely getting sore. If you look at the messages above that I have posted in the past week, you can see why. Please pass the ibuprofen. Today's ride finished at 49 miles, averaging 16.5 mph. For the most part, I kept up with the rest of the riders, but it's a pretty fast bunch.

There's a storm on the way in. The sky is darkening as I type this. Another good reason to not ride tomorrow. At the end of the month I'll total up the miles for the first quarter 2005. April brings Monday and Wednesday evening club rides.

You're an inspiration, Trekkie Dad.

I bought a pedometer for each of us for Easter. I think they were maybe $2.50 each at the grocery store. It turned out to be an inspired idea: everyone loved it!

Okie-dokie, changing things up...

Seperating my body into smaller muscle areas rather simply upper/lower because I don't much care for the "sore all at once" feeling and it also lowers my workout time (theorhetically..)

Also, added in 30mins of cardio, if not 45mins. Was doing 20mins of HIT cardio, but paying attention to time and changing resistence or speed is rough and makes me notice EVERY SINGLE MINUTE of cardio. 30mins with my headphones and the occasional glance at the stop watch is much more pleasent. I'm gonna attempt to do this cardio daily, the exception most likely being on the days I do my leg workout.

I keep forgetting to do my abs. Rome wasn't built in a day though, and neither will my workout routine. I keep telling myself "improvement not perfection" - essentially the only thing from Bill Phillips i still take to heart.

I'm brand new to this thread and have been reading through the posts. Keep up the great work everyone!!!!

marktips, how are you cooling down after your cardio workout?

If you're going all out for say 45 minutes or so and suddenly just stop, this may cause a drop in blood pressure which in turn can bring on the symptoms that you're describing.

I'm a runner and find that I get lightheaded (dizzy feeling) if I don't cool down properly by taking a short walk, a slight stretch, after a run.

And speaking of abs, specific ab workouts are great and all but the only way I've found to control the belly is to watch what you put in it COMBINED with a good cardio workout.

Take care

Last day of March - I worked out. Today was supposed to be a "free day" but i skipped doing my legs Tuesday so they got done today.

I officially have squatter's rights. ;)

I also feel the burn for proof - ouchie ouchie ouchie!

I got up at 6:30 in the morning to workout, i am really proud of myself, normally i intend to workout but end up snoozing. I did cut the workout short, because i havent squatted in ages so my butt is dragging, but i did the majors. I forgot how much squatting takes out of you - whew - the next few exercises were lighter weights but seriously hard cuz the squats killed me.

If you'll excuse me i have to waddle to class - have a good day everyone!

How many of us are still with our programs at the end of the first quarter? I bicycled 26.5 miles today bringing my total for the first quarter to 1465 miles.
Daylight savings time starts next week, and the warm-weather riders will join us on our Monday and Wednesday evening club rides. Things are looking up.

Also, it will be time for me to get a lipid panel to see if my dietary changes that I started in November have improved my cholesterol numbers. I did lose a few pounds since then, and I've been told it's noticeable. (No secrets in lycra shorts.)

Anyway, if you're still with the program, that's great! If you're backsliding, it's not too late to get back on track. You know you can do it!

Sneaking in under the wire to say LOL. And I like your motto of "improvement, not perfection."
