View Full Version : Ultimate List of Rides to take 1-year-old on?
Hi everyone,
On Friday, my wife and I will be taking our 1-year-old son to DL and DCA. I've read "Parrenting in the Parks," but I guess I want somethign a little more specific.
I would like to compile the definitive list of rides that we can take our son on in both parks--whether it be in a stroller (e.g., Mark Twain), or ones that we can hold him on. For example, can we take him on Soarin' if we hold him in a lap?
Don't overestimate my smarts on this--even if it seems like common sense that we could take him on a ride (Small World?). I don't want to wait 45 minutes in a line becasue I think it'd be okay to take him, only to be told no!
Thanks for any tips and hints!
sdfilmcritic 02-27-2005, 11:01 AM It's a Small World would probably be a huge hit. My sister took her baby on that ride and he loved every minute of it.
SCUBAbe 02-27-2005, 11:05 AM How adventerous is the one year old? my 3 year old was scared of all the rides until she was about 6. At six she liked the fantasyland rides. I should explain further...she was scared of going on the rides, but after she went on them she liked them. She would then forget she liked them and freak out on the next visit until after she rode them. I would probably stick with fantasyland and the pooh ride. I've heard toddeler age children love the pooh ride. :)
SCUBAbe 02-27-2005, 11:08 AM Hi everyone,

uumm...no..there is a height limit and you cannot lap sit on this one or nay ride with a height limit.
Rouxe1688 02-27-2005, 11:16 AM Fantasyland and toontown will be the best places to bring your son. The alice in wonderland ride, peter pan, small world, drive him around the autopia (I'm not positive babies are allowed on this one) and pooh. and of course the train the cirlces the park, there are tunnels and dinosaurs in one tunnel, most kids think it's cool. and toontown his full of places to meet characters and there are little houses just your son's size that he can play on while you take a break. there are lots of little things for him to play with there, like a mailbox that says things when you open it.
Mark twain, tom sawyer island, the carriages and busses that go around mainstreet.
I don't know much about DCA, but there are a lot of kiddie rids there, i know of a couple that are A Bug's Life themed. Have fun :)

You can't take a stroller on Mark Twain. They have you leave it on the dock. I can't think of any rides you can take a stroller on. Even the train, etc, you have to take the baby out of the stroller, even if you don't collapse it.
Soarin' has a 40" height minimum, so no, you can't take the baby on that as a lap sitter.

PhishyBrewer 02-27-2005, 04:46 PM go to disneyland.com, check out the "families with toddlers" section, you'll get a list of rides they recommend. or just check out the signs at the entrances to find out if there's a height restriction. Keep in mind just because there's no restriction, that doesn't mean your child will enjoy it. some of the dark rides, especially snow white, can be scary. we took our then two year old on pirates and haunted mansion, but he's not easily scared and pretty adventurous, so just take your child's personality into consideration.

King Triton's Carousel
Most of A Bug's Land
Sun Wheel (red gondola - go in through the exit)
Disneyland
Most of Fantasyland - some of the dark rides may have loud noises though, beware if your little one is sensitive
it's a small world
King Arthur's Carrousel
The Many Adventures of Pooh
Pirates of the Caribbean (if noise is ok)
Haunted Mansion (if noise is ok)
Jungle Boat Cruise
Mickey's House - make sure he get's a picture with Mickey
Minnie's House - ditto w/Minnie
If you get on the Mark Twain at the front of the crowd, you can snag a seat... great if it's time to breastfeed/bottlefeed or nap!!!
If there is a height limit on rides, you won't be able to take him, but you will probably be able to get a single rider pass or rider switch pass for most of them, so take advantage of that and trade off with the baby.
adriennek 02-27-2005, 10:09 PM Don't forget at DLR:
DL Railroad
Monorail
If he's already 1, Autopia
