Hi there,

Just planning my upcoming DLR trip and I am planning a swing down through SW and LL.

It's my son's 6th birthday and I thought as a treat we would do the "Dine with Shamu" at SW. I noticed on the seaworld website that it states:

Special pricing for Platinum, Gold and Silver Passport Members.

I was wondering if anyone knew what the special pricing was? Since we will be spending 2 days there it might make more sense for one of us to purchase a Silver Passort for the additional $30+. Two days of free parking and a discount on a $100 meal with Shamu might make it worth while...

Thanks
Power...

I think it is 10 to 20%...

One other thing to think about, the Platinum Passport get you into any Busch park (except Discovery Cove), so if you live near another SeaWorld or Busch park, it might more than pay for itself...

The benefits do state 20% off tours, but I'm not sure if that applies to dining with shamu, so you just might want to call them. i'm not sure where in the online ordering process the fact that you're a passport holder even comes up.

if i may be so bold, if you aren't going to use the passport more than once (for 2 days), i'd suggest maybe passing on the dining with shamu option. for $60/$50, you can get the 2 day deluxe which includes a backstage tour and preferred seating for a shamu show. i would think the chance to get closer to the animals would be more of an exciting experience than to just watch one playing in the background.

also, there's the new dolphin encounter for $35pp which lets you touch and feed a dolphin (outside the pool), but also for $40pp, there's a 2 hour tour which not only encludes the dolphin encounter, but also interactions with sea turtles and morey eels. and for the price of admission for one day, you can buy a 2 day ticket.

A couple of years ago we took my daughter to Dine with Shamu. It was a ok meal and she enjoyed seeing the whale up close but I don't really think it was worth all of that $$. My cousin took his kids to the backstage tour last year and they really enjoyed it and said it was REALLY worth it...

The Platinum Pass does provide reserved preferred seating for many of the shows. Its nice to walk in and get a decent seat just before showtime. You do have to reserve at the membership center or over the phone.

Another nice feature of most of the Annual Passes is monthly payment plans. Reduces the sticker shock.

Last year Sea World had another nightly buffet dinner opportunity during their Cirque season in the hospitality area. The food was notably better than "Dine with Shamu", and we summized probably was handled by an outside catering firm. You got a special 15-20 minute Cirque show - mostly acrobatics and rythmic dancing, sometimes to hiphop stuff, sometimes to other rythms.

This year, not sure... I got a mailer from SW the other day and havent opened it yet.

Negative - the buffet was prepared by the catering department. They also prepare the food for Dine with Shamu and all special events.
