I am going to be in Williamsburg for a wedding the weekend of March 3-6. I would like to check out Colonial Williamsburg on Friday the 4th. I have heard that you can have a good experience without buying the tickets. Does anybody know about this? I am assuming then that there is no "ticket gate" per say and maybe just the town? I have never been and live in AZ so no-one I know has been either. What is it like? I am 24 and my bf is 28 and we have no kids, if that helps with suggestions. I am also only working part time while I get my teaching certification so saving the $70 would help, but would we be missing out? Please help!!

It has been many many years since I've gone but I loved it! I really don't remembere anything about tickets, though we might have taken a tour that involved buying tickets? From what I remember, we basically just walked around the town. I remember some sort of hedge maze? It was a lot of fun, but I love that time period!

Sorry I wasn't much help! :(
