If you're ever in Japan and get a Disneyland jones:Dreamland (http://www.disney-i.com/ndl/index.html)
There are replicas of Main Street Station, the Matterhorn, the Jungle Cruise, and Sleeping Beauty Castle.

I am shocked that Disney have never sued them for copywrite. Wow that looks amazing.
Seriously. How DID they get away with this??!
Surfingstitch 02-09-2005, 09:59 AM Where is this located in Japan?
Shortiemetoo 02-09-2005, 10:04 AM Wow...like disneyland without the magic.....looks so austere...
bradk 02-09-2005, 10:13 AM from what i could gather, they were given a cease-and-desist in 1964 which prevented them from further re-creating disney attractions (they did continue building additional rides however).
with the exception of one coaster in particular, i've read some pretty awful reviews of the park and it's pretty much the unanimous opinion that if you're going to go to either park, the one to choose is tokyo disney.

There are already two Disney theme parks (technically, they are owned by another company and use the Disney properties under license) in Japan, both of which are very well regarded. See the "Tokyo Disneyland" section of these boards for more details.
This particular thread is about a cheap Disneyland knockoff park that was built years before the real Disney park was built in Japan.
As for the new park opening later this year, that is in Hong Kong, which is officially part of China, not Japan.

I'm sure you mean that your manager is going to the REAL "Tokyo DL" and not the fake knock off Dreamland outside of Nara???

Hey all! Thanks for the interest in our photos from Nara Dreamland. We've gotten swamped with emails about this place ever since we got back from Japan. It REALLY was a creepy experience as some of the park looked EXACTLY like Disneyland:
http://www.themeparkreview.com/japan2004/nara29.jpg
and other parts looked like someplace that had been closed and abandoned ten years ago, except nobody told the employees!

We have also just posted a video from Nara Dreamland so you can see the place in motion! It's actually quite scary yet entertaining! I don't think there could have been more than 20 other people in the park the day we were there.
The link for the video is here:

Enjoy!
