We bought a Sears-o-pedic back in November. Absolutely love it. Very comfortable. (Suprized that no one mentioned Sears yet...)

I urge anyone buying a new mattress to try a few out, whether it's at a friends place or a hotel.

Cooooool! Earkid~I'm heading over to try out the mattress. You don't mind, right?? ;)

Actually, very good advice dsnyredhead~we tried several mattresses in the stores when we bought. At first, I felt little odd stretching out on a floor model, but after awhile I could tell which ones I liked and didn't like.

It's funny seeing handfuls of people rolling from one bed to the next at stores. :D

Right- they have a bunch of locations but not all of them have bedding. If you go to their website (http://www.pacificsales.com/store/store_m.asp), it looks like Irvine and Cerritos are the locations that currently have bedding.

Everytime my parents bought an appliance when I was growing up, we ended up at the Pacific Sales location that used to be in East Torrance. It looks like that store is closed now. (There are a few locations I've been to that are closed. In fact, the two stores where we bought our older two sons' beds are both off the list now!)

So the stores tend to move around. Go figure. Good prices and decent service, though. It might be worth a trip to Irvine to check out their prices. We plan to buy a bed this year and I can guarantee you that I'll shop at PS. It would take a lot for me to not buy it there.

Adrienne,
I also grewup going to the Torrance Pacific Sales with my parents for appliances and such. So I countinued going there when I got married as well. What I like about Pacific Sales is they are NOT on commission and are very honest about the products they sell (because commission isn't a issue) and the same sales people have been there since I was a little girl!! Which says a lot about the company that people would stay for over 30 years.

As a matter of fact just last week we went to the old Torrance location and found new houses being built. We went to a nearby store and asked where they relocated. (it was a small store and we knew they must have finally after all these years relocated) Sure enough we found out they moved right behind the Costco off of Crenshaw & Lomita. It is a new Beautiful HUGE building!! We bought a new T.V. there and it was a pleasure doing business with them as usual! The new Torrance store has a big room full of beds so you should go check it out! I think Pacific Sales is the only place to shop for appliances, T.V.s ect.

This topic interests me. Hubby and I both have nightmare back problems and we don't sleep very well at all. Currently we have a Sealy ......it's only 4 years old and it was wonderful when we got it...but every night gets worse and worse. (It's an extra firm with a double pillowtop - one on each side)

We were way into the Select Comfort train of thought but recently we are starting to be swayed to the TempurPedic side.

We dont know anyone with the Select Comfort personally but we have lain on our friends Tempur pedic and it was very interesting to say the least. but how can one tell after 15 minutes af laying on a mattress what it will feel like in a month/year/5 years?

Anyone have the TempurPedic? (Since a few have already chimed in about the select comfort)

Both are pretty expensive, so we want to make sure we choose the best one.

The thought of a comfy bed is dreamy......I hardly remember what it feels like to not wake up stiff and sore in the mornings. Much less what it feels like to actually sleep through the night without tossing and turning.

We have thought about just buying the tempur pedic pad thingies just to try it out...if nothing else it's only $100 and if it wasnt great for our bed we could at the very least use it to cushion our futon pad we currently use for camping (yes we camp alot).

We both have back problems as well. Mine is a herniated disk in my lower back. I bought us a memory foam pad thingy (yes, the technical term) for our fake Select Comfort mattress. I think it made a world of difference, which is why I am leaning toward TempurPedic. But I believe Select Comfort now has their air mattress part with the memory foam topper. That makes sense too since you can have the foam cushion, plus the flexibility to adjust the firmness with the air.
