Oscar-winner Michael Moore has taken a veiled swipe at Mel Gibson's controversial movie The Passion Of The Christ - his revenge after Gibson refused to back Fahrenheit 9/11. Moore was disappointed when the Australian heart-throb actor pulled out his financial backing of his expose of George W. Bush's regime and his reaction to the September 11 terrorist attacks. The Braveheart star then refused to join Moore for a joint discussion with Time Magazine's editors, who were considering them for a joint Man Of The Year award last year. On the subject of Gibson's biblical opus, Moore tells Vanity Fair, "If I were to make a movie, it would be about turning the other cheek... And the meek shall inherit the earth." Moore added he was disturbed at, "How easily the vulnerable can be manipulated, twisted by images on the screen."This quote from Moore bothers me at how hypocritical it sounds. This same quote could be applied in a conversation about his documentary Fahrenheit 9/11.

that's funny too, since Moore is making fiction, selling it off as truth in F911.

Taking one quote out of context of an entire interview, I have no idea what he's referring to. I haven't seen either movie.

What? Moore saying something hypocritical? Say it isn't so!

Please.
Let the Michael Moore bashing begin!
As a friend said "America wouldn't know how to question authority, even if it was a knock knock joke"
Mr.Moore has the right to make a movie with his view, and you have the right not to watch it.
I could quote some out of context stuff Mel Gibson has said, but it wouldn't be fair to him.

I could quote some out of context stuff Mel Gibson has said, but it wouldn't be fair to him.I for one am not questioning Moore's right to make movies ... I do question his claim that it is a 'documentary'. (Not even Oliver Stone claims his movies about JFK and Nixon are documentaries.)
Now, I'm not right-wing Bush-supporter, but I won't jump on bandwaggon of the exagerated claims/distortions/disrespect Moore heeps on the man. The man (Bush) is an idiot, and should be called an idiot ... but it should (and can) be done with the facts.
As for the Moore quote being out of context ... Whether it is or isn't, there's still so much irony in there that it has it's own gravitational pull!

Every media has it bias..Michael Moore's movie was a documentry, as it was based on real events, seen thru his eyes. He never said it was "fair and balanced" like FOX "news". He made his views know thru his medium.
ANY WHOOOOO...
Sorry for the derail, I wonder if people commented about Patrick Henry and his bias when he wrote Common Sense

I think the quote could be applied to both films.

LOL. I was about to say that too.
I had to write a ten page paper on Common Sense for my colonial America class. That was such an exciting class. :geek:

I do not like Michael Moore. Though I do not like him, he does have the right to make movies...fiction or non-fiction. The man really bugs me, and no, I did not pay to see his movie.

Actually, I understand what he is saying. Patrick Henry and Michael Moore seem to have similar styles. Both seek to inflame and manipulate the listener by appealing to raw emotions. A comparison of Henry and Moore would make a great history paper.
I'm tired of Michael Moore.
Mel Gibson can be really annoying too, but he does have those pretty blue eyes. :)

Both men are zealots to their own causes.
If I had to choose between the two films, however, I'd watch "Our Bonehead President" over "Jesus Chainsaw Massacre" any day.

I did enjoy Moore's other documentary Bowling for Columbine and found it very interesting to watch. So don't think of me as a extremist Moore hater. I'm just fed up with some of the things he does.

Moore used to have a TV show and I used to watch it. He brought up some interesting points on occasion. But I feel he is becoming less thoughtful and more fanatical.
