Hour-glass isn't really the same thing as pear-shaped. Hour-glass has the added bonus of a large chest. Pear-shaped has a small chest. It's all in the ratios. ;)
Yes! Hour-glass for me!
Yay.
Unfortunately, the bigger chest came along with the big butt. Never had big boobs and a small but EVER in my life...
A friend forwarded this to me. Author unknown. Enjoy!
Creation Story
In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth and populated the Earth with broccoli, cauliflower and spinach, green and yellow and red vegetables of all kinds, so Man and Woman would live long and healthy lives.
Then using God's great gifts, Satan created Ben and Jerry's and Krispy Cremes. And Satan said, "You want chocolate with that?" And Man said, "Yes!" and Woman said, "and as long as you're at it, add some sprinkles." And they gained 10 pounds. And Satan smiled.
And God created the healthful yogurt that Woman might keep the figure that Man found so fair. And Satan brought forth white flour from the wheat, and sugar from the cane and combined them. And Woman went from size 6 to size 14. So God said, "Try my fresh green salad." And Satan presented Thousand-Island Dressing, buttery croutons and garlic toast on the side. And Man and Woman unfastened their belts following the repast.
God then said, "I have sent you heart healthy vegetables and olive oil in which to cook them." And Satan brought forth deep fried fish and chicken-fried steak so big it needed its own platter. And Man gained more weight and his cholesterol went through the roof.
God then brought forth running shoes so that His children might lose those extra pounds. And Satan gave cable TV with a remote control so Man would not have to toil changing the channels. And Man and Woman laughed and cried before the flickering blue light and gained pounds.
Then God brought forth the potato, naturally low in fat and brimming with nutrition. And Satan peeled off the healthful skin and sliced the starchy center into chips and deep-fried them. And Man gained pounds.
God then gave lean beef so that Man might consume fewer calories and still satisfy his appetite. And Satan created McDonald's and its 99-cent double cheeseburger. Then said, "You want fries with that?" And Man replied, "Yes! And super size them!" And Satan said, "It is good." And Man went into cardiac arrest.
God sighed and created quadruple bypass surgery.
Then Satan created HMOs.
disney jones 02-01-2005, 01:43 PM LOL! very good Helen. Thanks!
checking in - well, after my two bike rides and day in the work out room 10-14 days ago, my left knee says i over did it and has been a little sore, so i'm resting it for now, especially with the heavy walking around coming up at DLR Thurs-Sat.
i ate good on shift last week, but then when the girls came over, i stocked the fridge real good and ended up gaining the 3 lbs back i lost, plus 2 more. now back on shift this week, i'm back to where i've been the last two year - 176 lbs (6'0").
I'm one of those plateau types, who've taken off 15-20 lbs from two years ago, but just can't get that last 6 lbs off my belly down to 170 lbs. I know i'll do it thanks to this thread and the extra determination it brings!!!
but with a trip to DLR in 2 days and all the food over there, i'll be hiding from here till mid-month! :D
LOL, That's hilarious, Helen. :fez:

Knee problems often result from improper saddle position, bike fit, or not using low enough gears. Saddle height is the first thing to check. Too low, and your knees suffer; too high, and you rock back and forth on your tender anatomy.

Don't hide from us. When I was at DLR last December, I made it a personal challenge to find things on the menu that were both healthy and tasty. It really wasn't that hard.
stan4d_steph 02-01-2005, 08:11 PM Title on my packaging: Now 10% leaner :)

the knee's a lot better today - i think i know how i did it, the last few miles on the bike, my back tire was getting low, so i just pedaled without sitting to keep the weight up front.
as for DLR food, it's not the healthy i'm worried about --- it's the tasty. :D
Hakuna Makarla 02-02-2005, 07:55 PM I did good again today, I lost another pound and even ate good! I had a rib eye for dinner, brussel sprouts, tangerine
breakfast was a protein drink with skim milk, and lunch was 3 eggs with ketchup ( yes emma ketchup muawwwaaaaaa !
I am lighter tonight then I was this morning :) we shall see what the good fairy brings in the morning!
kisroo 02-02-2005, 07:57 PM As per usual, my Tuesday was horrendously long and busy, so I didn't get to do all of my strength-training. I did do cardio and I did ok foodwise.
Today, I had a good brekkie, missed lunch, had a good dinner and just had a brownie. I'm exhausted today for some reason (maybe my 15 hour Tues??).
Anyone else susceptible to poor eating/craving sugar when they are tired? That seems to be my MO. I'm also hypoglycemic, so I wonder if that doesn't help, either.
I know I shouldn't skip meals, but I had a parent come in to discuss her child today and she wouldn't leave. I almost sat down to eat in front of her. Sheesh??? Cranky much??
(why, yes, I am.) :|
Tomorrow's another day! At least I got to do my cardio and strength training today.
Hope everyone is doing well.
stan4d_steph~I love your new label! ;)
Great story, 3894. Very funny. :)
Have a GREAT Thursday everyone!

Ok, now you need a lesson about carrying a spare tube, tire levers, pump (or CO2 injector), and a patch kit. Believe it or not, it's possible to carry all that in a small saddle bag.
TrekkieDad 02-02-2005, 09:51 PM 24 miles today, including 7.8 commuting. Nice day, calm winds, and sunshine. Felt good. DW served fish, green soybeans (forgot the name), and couscous salad (from Trader Joe's) for dinner. The fish was marinated in ponzu and pan-broiled. Tasted pretty darn good.
Hakuna Makarla 02-03-2005, 05:53 AM wooooooo hoooooooo I lost another pound, yes!!

Love it 3894 or Helen.
I miss Trader Joes.
I stepped on the scale this morning after three days of low carbin' it and I am at 129.4 :D
WTG Karla.
smoochies Kisroo ;)
I have been taking Joshua for walks in the afternoon while both girls are at school. I need to take advantage of the few nice days that we have.
kadiehl 02-03-2005, 10:57 AM I am not brave enough to post totals, not yet. All I can say is that with my build, according to my doctor, I should weigh 145 lbs. I am 5'3". That may sound like a lot to weigh for that height to some but I am a muscular, curvy person, when I lose weight. Sad thing is that I have not seen 145 since I first got pregnant with my son, 9 years ago :crying: I was down to 150 before I got pregnant with my daughter and gained the weight back...so I have a small person to lose then I will be 145 again :)
Let's just say. I do not weigh ALOT but I hide it well.
Bill Catherall 02-03-2005, 12:11 PM Mmmmm... Goddess dressing. Love the stuff. I'm eating some right now. (Lani introduced it to me and now I'm hooked.)
Hakuna Makarla 02-03-2005, 12:15 PM Kediehl, do not worry if I posted my weight I am sure the board would tilt!!
I am sitting here having a bowl of green beans :( life isso unfare, why do the skinny gals eat ice scream while I eat beans ..........
Oh well I am doing well, losing a pound a day and eating good meals. Looking forward to that rib eye tonight! I hate fish and chicken gets old, I love steak!
kbanmen 02-03-2005, 12:49 PM wooooooo hoooooooo I lost another pound, yes!!
way to go Karla
rentayenta 02-04-2005, 02:31 PM Woke up this morning and weighed myself 128.2 :D Took the baby for a walk and am sticking to the low carb thingie.
I seem to have a perma headache, even after taking Tylenol. Maybe its the lack of sugar. I am still drinking plenty of coffee.

Maybe it's dehydration. Caffeine can dehydrate you. How much water are you drinking?

WHOO-HOOOOOO!!!! Way to go Renta that's almost 5 lbs in a week, yeah?? Impressive! :smooches: right back at ya! ;)
Our gym is having "lease" issues and is probably moving. Errr...hubby went earlier than I was planning this am and came back in 15 mins crumbling as he crawled back under the covers. Someone had met him at the door and told him that they were probably moving and would be closed until Monday at least.
No one said anything to us about it just yesterday morning. No notice or anything. I'm ticked. No one is answering their phone either. I'm gonna be  if we have to drive too far or find another gym!!! Not a happy start at the kisroo's this morning...
Went for a walk with the pup and hubby. Did strength training on buns and arms at home. Hubby took me to Quiznos and I had a small, lite smoked turkey sammich with only mustard. Yum.
brazen wench 02-04-2005, 03:14 PM I seem to have a perma headache, even after taking Tylenol.
I suffered from daily headaches for two years, finally went to the doctor out of exasperation and fear, and found out that basically, I was addicted to Excedrin migraine! The doctor said I had to quit all over-the-counter stuff cold turkey for two weeks. If I still had headaches, he'd run some tests and prescribe Rx. He was right, after two weeks my headaches were gone. I guess I was caught up in a rebound cycle, and the nonstop OTC meds I was taking only made things worse for me. HTH.
My Lean Cuisine Spa Cuisine update: Mediterranean Chicken and Rosemary Chicken are awesome. Pecan Chicken, no great thrill.
Continuing to love the new Light Hawaiian Punch, it really satisfies my sweet tooth.
Congrats, everyone, on a good week!
Hakuna Makarla 02-04-2005, 03:49 PM I went off my diet last night and ate candy :( I am back on today. I think I was a little down yesterday and so tired. I am still so weak and tired, not sure why so I am hoping to lay down early tonight. HAve a good day all
The Lovely Mrs. tod 02-05-2005, 10:32 AM Well, finally on track it seems. Down 2.6 pounds this week! I've been alot more concientious about journaling and I've found that the WW e-tools is worth the money, at least for me. Looking up points and writing them down, in spite of good intentions, wasn't coming up very good, but logging on, putting something in the e-journal and having the computer look it up for me...working like a charm...at least for now... :fez:

rentayenta 02-05-2005, 02:19 PM WooHoo TLMt!!
Back to WW for me as well. I woke up this morning as dizzy as could be. DH checked my blood sugar level and said he was surprised that I hadn't passed out. Low/no carb is very easy to stick to but obviously not the right thing for my body.
Disneygirl65 02-05-2005, 02:40 PM Rentayenta-
I tried the low carb thing, thought it would be good for me..well it wasn't. I felt like I was going to pass out most of the time. When I went off it, I put on more weight than I wanted to lose. It was weird. Took me a month or so to get that off, but no, no carb was not what my body needed. Now I just portion control and eat everything, and I'm fine.
