Ok, with the invitiational MouseAdventure running for many hours and over many distances this time, it's probably a good thing to start a work-out regimen to prepare for March 13th.

For me, I'm starting back at the gym this week for my regular weight-training. As for the cardio, I think I'll have to make use of my close proximately to the parks and do some solid walking a couple nights a week. The latter would also have other advantages in learning:

-How to dodge strollers with ease
-How to avoid large groups blocking walkways
-How to grab a churro and eat on the go, keeping exact change on hand
-How much true energy can be sustained from eating said churro
-How much time is wasted in the bathroom from said churro
-Learning the movement pattern of large foreign tour groups to make sure they don't "cut you off at the pass".
-How to look non-chalant and "blend in" while looking at minute decor details in restaurants and shops

So, what will YOU do to get prepared for MA?

I will practice writing with pens of different sizes and colors so my hand doesn't cramp up while taking notes on team photos or grading as part of team red pen. I will also exercise my smiling muscles so every team is greeted in the same pleasant manner. :D

I get prepared by doing the quests ahead of time. That way, come game time, I know all the answers. :p

Although I'm staff and not a participant, I always find MA to be exhausting.

I've been taking mega-doses of multi-vitamins the last two weeks, and this week I started back into my walking program. I also started back last week on a low-fat diet (which I feel much better on rather than low-carb). So, only a couple of pounds lost but my mental focus and zest for life is much higher. Yay!

Once around the grounds where I work gives me lots of up and down hills plus 1200 steps on my pedometer. Next I want to add the various sets of stairs that criss-cross the outside gardens of the complex.

After that, weight training combined with the walking! The Terminatress will be back (somehow).... ;)

For the staff dry run of October's MA, I did wear a pedometer. On that, I clocked over 7 miles! AVP and I are still finalizing the course, and I don't want to pimp it, but make sure you have comfortable shoes. :~D
