View Full Version : Dance Dance Revolution: Disney Mix
GusMan 01-12-2005, 07:13 PM Ok, I have to ask... does anyone have this game for PlayStation?
I ask because I decided to buy it and give it a shot. Yes, it was expensive because it is out of print and in high demand but I found one new, in the shrink wrap for a decent price. Found two dance pads, also on eBay for dirt cheap with a copy of DDR:Konamix as well.
Now, I am not much of a gamer, but there is something about this Disney arcade-style game that just makes me smile. And to be honest, you can get quite a workout by using it.
Anyone else have it and what are some stories you may have from playing it?
CoasterChickie 01-12-2005, 07:47 PM We have two pads, but not the Disney Mix. Please tell us more about it!!
P.S. We'll challenge you to a match after we've all had some time to practice ...heh heh heh! :~D
rentayenta 01-12-2005, 08:53 PM Gusman, do not, I repeat, do not go up against the Coaster/Javanod clan. There are hard core Dance Dance folks ;)
Shinku 01-12-2005, 08:57 PM Aha, I am the DDR ninja *shifty ninja eyes*
I've been playing for a little over 3 years, with tournaments sprinkled here and there. My exbf got me into it (he was HARDCORE, he won like every tournament out here. He had a following, so to speak, among the DDRfreaks) and though I was never up to his calibur, I can still make many a-boy's ego hurt at the arcade :~D
And yes, it IS quite a workout if you really play it.

Cool!!! You and Naruto definitely need to do battle!!! :D
Naruto 01-12-2005, 10:28 PM Heh, if she's in tournaments...I dunno...the hardest thing I can think of that I can do is Break Down on Heavy mode on Dormax 2...but, that's only because my system keeps corrupting my data :P I need a new memory card...
kadiehl 01-13-2005, 09:54 AM Oh my...I am heading over to EBay now...We just bought my son a pad and DDR extreme for his birthday...I would love to find this too.
GusMan 01-13-2005, 10:07 AM A challenge, eh? Well, maybe next year @ MouseFest 2005, we ought to meet at Innoventions and give it a shot! Heh heh heh :) (Makes mental note to practice, practice, practice so I dont get my butt handed to me.) I have never been a big gamer but this was a lot of fun and can really get your heart pumping. I mean, if you are going to game, get some exercise!
Different DJ Characters include Mickey, Donald, Chip and Dale, Pluto, and Goofy. There are training modes as well, much like the other DDR versions. There are some traditional Disney songs done in a Techno format, and some other family-friendly techo remakes of other songs as well for variety. Other than that, it is DDR to the core. The music sounds great going through a home entertainment center! (Crank up that bass!)
One note...
If you see one with a Buy It Now for around $100, that is a good deal. Most have been going down the "bidding" path from anywhere between $120-$150. (even for some used copies.)
I found mine for $101 (new!) including shipping, and I consider myself lucky!
stan4d_steph 01-13-2005, 10:37 AM How do those home-version dance pads hold up? I enjoy this game, but it seems like you'd wear out those little plastic things they sell you for you home.
kadiehl 01-13-2005, 10:44 AM OK I bid and I can not believe, that if I win, I am going to pay the amount of money I am for that game. I will not tell my hubby or he will kill me for sure, LOL! He knows games cost about $40.00 so I will leave off the other $60.00 if I win. OH my...thank goodness I will have my income tax refund back in a month or less... Oh my...I think I am having a nervous breakdown. You do not realize how cheap I really am. If I win this, I will not be buying the hardcover Harry Potter books I want. OH my..time to go grab a coca cola to soothe the nerves. LOL ;)

Not really sure since his birthday is a month away :) I prepare early for these sort of things. My sisters seems to be doing good except she got a little tear from a shoe when she stepped on it. A Vinyl repair kit fixer her right up.
CoasterChickie 01-13-2005, 10:51 AM We've had ours for 5 months and they still look great even though they get quite a bit of use on a daily basis. The nice thing about the soft pads is that you can fold them up (gently) and take them on trips to friends' and relatives' houses. They make a great ice breaker for all ages and there is every level from first timer to extremely advanced. It's more fun if you have two pads than one and they're not too pricey if you get them at Fry's on sale.
GusMan 01-13-2005, 11:24 AM You can get some real sturdy soft pads or even ones that look and feel like the arcade versions. (Read: $$) I got some cheaper ones and will mount them on a soft pad for stability. I paid about $20 for two pads, shipped. Normally they go for about $20 each at the local toy store. I didnt want to spend a ton right now since I am a DDR new-bee. But so far these cheaper one tend to work well.
Your mileage may vary, taxes not included... :)
Shinku 01-13-2005, 12:36 PM If you really get into it and find that the pads slide around too much (read: hardwood floors, or in my case, slick berber carpet) you can google around for cheap ways to "mount" your soft pad.
I duct taped mine to a piece of particle board, then threw one of those little plastic mats you usually put under your chair at the office (I have no idea what they're called) over it and stapled it on the underside (DONT EVER pierce your mat!). Seemed to work well, extends the life of my pads a little longer, but I'm pretty hard on equipment anyway. It's kinda pricey, however, so I wouldn't necessarilly recommend it for the "we just pull it out when the kids are bored" set. Under normal circumstances your regular pads should be fine :) and I would say for the most part don't spend more than $30 for a soft pad.
Pirate Girl 01-14-2005, 11:30 AM At Fry's they have some built onto a hard base. They don't fold, and are kind of hard to store, but they last forever. We have one that is used as a demo
(played constantly) in the store here in Portland that's been there for almost a year and still looks new. So if you are REALLY into DDR and want to shell out 100 bucks a pop, they are pretty cool.
kadiehl 01-14-2005, 11:52 AM Well I tried to bid on the DDR Disney Mix on Ebay and lost out...IN THE LAST 10 SECONDS...dang blasted dial up. I could have gotten it if I could have clicked faster...oh well.
It was going to be my son's birthday present. I guess it was not meant to be. I found one that looks like fun for kids though. It is The Jungle Book Rhythm and Groove...Anyone have this?
I lost out on that bid last night because I did not want to pay more than $30.00, well guess what- I found a brand new factory sealed copy on Amazon for $15.00...can not beat that.
OH well...little bummed but looking forward to playing the Jungle book one with him.
GusMan 01-14-2005, 11:56 AM Sounds like you got AuctionSniped! I hate when that happens!
BillsGirl 01-19-2005, 03:48 PM We have had Red Octaine Ignition Pads (http://www.redoctane.com/index.html) for a year and they are great!! They are a little pricey but I believe you get what you pay for. I almost bought some at frys, but saw a couple people inline returning them!! I did a lot of research online and found great reviews about them. They have even had them on the today show and MTV.
GusMan 01-19-2005, 04:08 PM Ironic... I got the game itself from Redoctane. Great service. Best Buy also sells some of the Redoctane dance pads as well.
