Just curious about this site. It is a great site with all the information and such. Who runs this site? How did all the moderators become moderators? Just curious....

In the beginning was the Mouse. And it was good.
But the Mouse was lonely and so He created geeks. He saw the geeks and it was good.
The geeks gathered together and some of them created websites to make meets and greets easier. And it was good.
The first geeks in each site chose moderators to help them rule and reign.
And thus are the days of the geekdome of Mouseplanet.

Well when you say "site", do you mean MousePlanet as a whole or MousePad the message boards?

The message boards came about because the core of the MousePlanet staff wanted message boards. Alex and Lani formulated the community policies based on their years participating message boards like, oh, that big one- you know, whatchacallit. :rolleyes: Oh, it will come to me or Alex will post it. It's the one with the Pit on it. Tony worked on the software end and I think Andrew.... I'm sure I'm missing other people's efforts! But it's not intentional!

The mods started out from staff members who volunteered to be moderators. As the community grew, we watched out for members that we thought would be good moderators and invited them to be mods. Some have said yes. Some have said no. Some have said no, not now, then changed their minds and said yes. Some have retired to have more time to do other things.

Oh, and for awhile, we all had different titles to explain our abilities- there were mods, super-mods and admins. The lines are fuzzier with this current version of the software, but back in the day, the SuperMods all had capes and tights, designed by Edna E Mode. She's impossible to get an appointment with these days, so we haven't been able to get our suits properly maintained in awhile...
