Hi all. Today is the day that some of us our trying to change our eating and exercise (or lack there of) habits. Call it a diet, change in eating habits, lifestyle change, whatever works for you :D

I am back on WW. I lost all of my baby weight and became a Lifetime WWr in 1999. I had another baby in 2001 and lost the weight once again but have gained it back :( I think I have lost the same 20 lb 100x! My goal is to lose 25 lb and tone up.

I started back on WW Dec. 28, 2004.

Please post your story if you are comfortable.

I plan on posting my daily food and exercise journal and my weekly losses- gains are not an option for me ;)

You go, girl!!!

I've been journaling on the weekdays again since just before Christmas. Why the weekdays??? Well, I'm an 80-20 girl. I eat healthily and on track 80% and allow 20% to be not-so-healthy and on-track. ;) Works for me. I generally don't journal on Sat and Sun. I've maintained being a Life-timer for 2 years now doing it this way~so I'll continue! :)

My workouts have also been bumped up a bit. I've added more weight training again, with the help of my physical therapist and am going to go back to Spinning 2x/wk starting next week.
I had to give both up with the back injury and surgery, but am adding them back with the PTs guidance and supervision.
Here's hopin' it doesn't bug my back!

Have a great New Years Day everyone! Be healthy and happy.

I did not know you were a fellow WW :D Maintaining for 2 years is awesome!
I have found that losing is easy, maintaining is where the real work is- for me anyway.

Thank you for the well wishes.

Karla here,

I started yeasterday and lost 2lbs this morning. I am feeling better and not so cranky. I journal every day and use fit day.com so I can also keep charts and graphs on my gains and losses. I am an emotional eater, and can eat and eat if I am mad or sad. I have a wonderful treadmil and will begin this next week when I am feeling stronger. I feel weak for a few days when I start since I am getting all the sugars and such from my body. After the first week I feel like king kong!
I have also started the whole house in this plan and no more eating out!
I have begun to make a meal calendar and went shopping today for 2 weeks worth of meals. we all did well today and tonight for dinner we are having steak ( broiled) and vegtables with apple slices s for desert.
Nothing fancy I am not a good cook but we lose well on meats and we all love beef. I know some say this is bad but I do what works for us and we love to diet on chicken, beef, pork chops and turkey. We also do most of our cooking when we eat well , on the BBq. we love BBq meats and my kids are always for it. Rachal and I go all over town and find meats on sale and both of us sit down and plan out our meals. we also love to eat Imitaion crab meat, so this is what we had for lunch today along with a yogurt.
Eggs are a staple for me so I have 2 for breakfast ( poached) and tea. Lunch is always a meat and vegi as is dinner.
I look forward to having the weight I gained off in no time:)

I eat eggs almost everyday as well Karla. They keep me satisfied. I just found a new hot sauce to put on my over easy eggs. Chalula(sp?)-OMGosh-to die for. Not icky like Tabasco but it has a little kick.

I am making a pork roast for dinner. Pork on NYD is good luck by the way. I am also making red beans and rice, saurkraut, pasta for the kiddies and french bread. Luckily I banked quite a few points this week :D

Sounds yummy! I love kraut!! I ate this stuff like crazy the last diet I was on ( I think I craved it ! ) And I lost big time. I also do green beans in the can, not so much carbs. I also put hot sauce on my eggs, I have to I really do not like eggs unless they areloaded with mayo LOL! I use the picante sauce. yum!
Hey I tried to find brown rice at the store, why could I not find any you guys were talking about? All I could find was instant ( fast cooking) is this the good rice or do I need to find a special rice? I am so rice lame. I love rice but never eat it much. I want to incorporate it into my diet some but do not know what to get. My town is lane where good healthy food is concerned. we have 2 health food stores, a head of lettuce here is 4.00 ! There is also no bulk. It must be ordered and this is very expensive. I think I will take a trip out of town to the food co-op 90 miles away and get some good grains.
I am really looking forward to doing better and being slimmer :)

I rode over 6800 miles on my bikes last year--a new high for me. But I found out last November the exercise not enough. My LDL is 164 (should be under 130), so my doctor, himself a cyclist, has told me to avoid animal fats--especially red meat, eat monounsaturated and polyunsaturated oils instead, and eat fish and seafood more often.

I am carefully reading labels (and menus when dining out), and I've done pretty well so far. The doctor expects the dietary changes will result in a modest weight loss, and of course, it will make me stronger and faster riding uphill. Already some of my fellow riders have noticed a change, and though I've only lost a couple of pounds, I've tightened my belt a notch.

DW has been on WW a number of times, so she's been supportive. (I got a salmon filet instead of prime rib for Christmas dinner.) I find I really don't miss the high-fat foods I used to eat, and I actually enjoy the hunt for healthy alternatives.

Low carbs? Fuggedabowdit! Active people need carbs to keep their motors running. (I think over 360 hours of saddle time a year makes me an active person.)

My next lipid panel is scheduled for early April. Hopefully, the results will be better then.

Did a short mountain bike ride today--7 miles of trail in under and hour, but it was showery and the trails were slick. More skill than speed was the theme of the day. Bike and I were considerably muddy, but the enjoyment factor was still pretty high.

Tomorrow will be an easy 24 mile road ride to a pancake breakfast, if it's not raining. If it rains, one of our club members (a spinning instructor), will set up a special class for us. I've never done a spin class, but a year ago, the instructor had never ridden out on the road with a bike club. We taught her the basics. Now it's time for payback.

Yesterday I bought some snacks for work and ate my first salad in a few weeks. We've had nothing but junk in the house and I've actually been craving vegetables.

Oh and I got a thing from WW about free registration so I'll be heading there this week.

I messed up, I had a piece of pie a pretzel ( soft) man I can not name the stuff I had. I went off big time, but on again today.

I am being accountable, so off to do house work and get on that dam treadmil. I hate that thing!

WOW TrekkieDad, you are my hero, "a short 7 mile ride". A 7 mile ride would put me 6 feet under ;)

I am going to work today and yes, I have a very very very partime job :D
It is very easy to stay OP at the hospital because the food sucks. I have been told that patient acuity is high so that means I probably won't have much time to snack.

It was raining this morning, and the 25-mile ride to the pancake breakfast was cancelled. :(
So I emailed the spinning class instructor in our club, and she confirmed the unscheduled class was on! :D

The class was a mix of regular spinners and rained-out cyclists. (I don't know about spinners, but cyclists tend to spur one another on.) The class was was supposed to end after about 45 minutes, but someone in the back called out, "Hey, Bennie needs to keep going! He hasn't been riding long enough! It hasn't been 5 hours yet." (Bennie was the cyclist beside me that rode 4400 miles in a single MONTH.)

The instructor said, "Sure, we can do a marathon class today. If you're going to stay, keep going while I put on another tape."

One of the spinners asked, "You guys ride five hours a day?" We didn't answer.

Anyway, all the cyclists and some of the spinners stayed through the second round. Finally, the instructor said that was enough, as she needed to save some energy for weight training.

I showered, dressed, had a quick lunch and did a little food shopping.

In all fairness, some of the spinners asked why there couldn't be a class like this every Sunday. The answer: If it hadn't been raining, the instructor and the rest of the cyclists would have been out on a bike ride! (And they'd be more than welcome to tag along.) ;)

I have an upcoming high school reunion this summer, I hope to lose a bit of weight before then.

A little history, because of my childhood, I went through many years of low self esteem. It took 2 years of counseling and an awesome husband to help me like myself. I had to get to a point where I liked me, heavy or not. During the course of my getting better, to me it was important to be comfortable where I was, not to stress over the scale and my appearance. I finally got to where I knew that if I had to be this size for the rest of my life it was ok.

I don't do well on traditional "diets," I get really cranky. Counting calories only makes me nuts, and I have never believed in making food, any food, my enemy (remember, I am only talking about myself, I am not trying to make anyone upset.)

What I want to try, if I can do it, is to just cut back on what I eat, try to eat a little healthier, choose more fruits and veggies, and add some exercise to my daily routine. Don't know how successful I will be, but I am going to try. I would be happy with 20 lbs, but 40 would be wonderful.

Mr. Pooh thinks I am nuts, he likes me just the way that I am! ;) His opinion is what counts the most!

WOW TrekkieDad, you are my hero, "a short 7 mile ride". A 7 mile ride would put me 6 feet under.

7 miles is short, except for the most difficult of mountain bike rides. 7 miles on flat pavement is less than a half-hour of riding. My bike commute across town is just under 4 miles each way. It takes me less than 20 minutes, including stops at traffic lights. (When I drive, it takes about 15 minutes.)

I can't seem to convince other people at the school to bike to work, including the 24yo teacher who lives down the street from me. (And I'm more than twice his age.)

With enough determination, commitment, decent equipment, and willingness to suffer (a little), just about anyone can work themselves up to long bike rides (about 80-100 miles). It really isn't as hard as it sounds.

I am walking the WDW 1/2 marathon next weekend, so yesterday was my long 10.3 mile walk in final preparation for the race day. I have two more 3.5 mile walks scheduled for this coming week, Monday and Wednesday, and then I am resting until Sunday.

I'll deal with diet after the race. I don't want to try to start cutting my calories until I've completed the race, since I know how weak and cranky I always am for the first two weeks of a diet.

Mrs. Pooh, I can so relate to you :) I think anytime we just cut back and get more active, it is bound to make us healthier.

AVP, good luck on your walk and have fun! Then come join us cranky dieters ;)

TrekkieDad, when its warm enough my DH rides his bike to work too. He is currently training for a mini triathalon. He is one of those uber healthy dudes and naturally thin  ;)

I did well again today. My WI is on Tuesday morning so we'll see. I ate all of my points plus my 4 in the bank. I hate having to throw away good points at the end of the week.

Tomorrow I am going to start working out again. I am attempting to ride the bike for 20 minutes as a warm up to a 45 minute aerobics class. Wish me luck!

I just found a new hot sauce to put on my over easy eggs. Chalula(sp?)-OMGosh-to die for.
Hmmmm... I'm a big fan of hot sauce on eggs too. I'll have to give that one a try. Have you ever tried Frank's Red Hot on eggs. I love that!

Today was my first day of getting back on track of eating right and losing the 20 lbs I packed on recently. I decided to kick things off last night by eating a bunch of crap and watching Super-size Me. :D That was a great movie. Fast food isn't really my vice. I eat it about once a month, if even that often. My problem is just over-indulging in things I shouldn't. I know it's okay to cheat once in a while, but my problem is I cheat too much. It's hard for me to be moderate with sugary snacks.

So, this time I'm going to find something else to "cheat" with instead of cake, pie, or cookies. Once I start on that stuff it's hard to stop. It's almost an addiction.

With today being the first day I started off with an official weigh-in. I'm at 207 lbs. and about 18.2% body fat. My goal is to get down to about 10-12% body fat. I didn't go to the gym this morning, but I am eating right so far. I'll be hitting the gym tomorrow.

My DH loves Frank's. I'll have to give it a try.

18.2% body fat is lower than average. I would be stoked with 18.2% body fat.

I did go to the gym today along with every other overweight woman in Davis County. It was packed. I did the StairMaster for 45 minutes and my legs were like jelly. My plan is to go M-Th. after I drop the baby off at Montessori.

I think its somatic but why is it that after I work out I seem to be hungrier than normal?

LOL, I started the day after Christmas.

I'm starting out at a weight of 135lbs and 28% bodyfat. My goal is to lose 10 body fat percentage points, (not so worried about the weight as the BF% weight)

I am staying under 20 grams of fat per day (at the recommendation of my trainer. ;) ) And am working out 5 nights a week.

Good idea Jenny, I like this thread!

I'll admit it, this is day one for me. I figured there was NO way I was going to stick to anything over New Year's weekend. So far, back to morning oats, bean soup and salad for lunch. Hard to walk in the downpour though...thinking of joining the "Y"...

While I am not surprised Bill posted his stats (dudes are secure like that ;) ), Emma, you rock!

I guess I'll do mine too.

I started on Dec. 28 at 133.2 lb and my BMI is 25.2%; I'm not sure how that compares to body fat.
