Has anyone seen the video for X at Magic Mountain. My god it looks awesome. Deja Vu is cool but nowhere near what X will be. :D

It does look very cool. The written descriptions make it sound way to scary. I read one that said you go up the hill then halway up you are flipped upside down before you down the hill, which is totally not true. This looks like it will bve a great coaster, I just hope it ages well, especially since it is an Arrow-mega-looper. Those age even worse than old Corkscrews from what I hear!
At first I thought X sounded kind of scary but now the only Coaster that sounds relatively risky to ride is the Tilt coaster. I really don't trust that one. Your train actually reaches a certain point and the entire track tilts and swings around. I just can't have enough faith in the brakes on a coaster.

I totally know what you mean. There is one in Japan or something that i saw pics of. Way Scary.

When is X supposed to open anyway?

And are there any online pics of this Tilt coaster? It sounds bizarre, never heard of it!

There's 2 companies making them - Giovonala www.giovanola.ch/ and Vekoma http://www.vekoma.com. Vekoma has it on their site with pics and video.
Try www.thrillride.com, www.coasterbuzz.com and www.ultimaterollercoaster.com. They always have lots of topics on their forums or news briefs.

[Moderator's note: URL for Vekoma, Thrill Ride, and Ultimate Roller Coaster fixed so they now go to the proper sites.]

Deja Vu opens May 25th, the park's 30th birthday.
I'll be at the media event on the 24th, I'll post a lil review here.

X doesn't have a date set yet, but construction has gone vertical on it - I would guess mid-late July.

FYI: X is not an arrow megalooper. I think it would be better classified as an Arrow 4th Dimension. Those inversions from the seats don't actually count as inversions.

Thanks for the correction. It does have a couple loops but after adjusting the color on my computer, I see that most of the loops in the construction shots are Viper, not X. They look to be real close in proximity.

X is on the plateau next to Viper, with the bulk of the ride diving down into what used to be the bus parking lot. I'm interested as to what construction photos you're looking at as, because as of Sunday May 13, the only sections of X that are up are a small section of station track, and the beginning of the lift hill. X's track is very different looking from Viper - it's got a second set of rails to control the rotation of the seats and it's bright yellow and fuschia.

Apparently the opening for Deja Vu has been delayed until memorial day.

X and Deja Vu are going to be SWEET!!

X will not be bumpy at all, as Arrow Dynamics has redesigned their wheel assemblies to allow a smoother ride. And the designs are done entirely on computer now, so it's possible to fix any bad transitions. This coaster has been in the works at Arrow for many years, and it should be quite a ride. I'm certainly looking forward to X. It's gonna look great at the front of the park.

It was on last night at 1am but i had to go to sleep so i only caught the first part. Discovery Channel and TLC always have good programs on about coasters. They focus alot on Magic MOuntain, Cedar Point and Islands of Adventure.

Every once in awhile, they have a program about Disneyland Paris because they have a couple of good coasters like their Space Mountain!!

But back to the original topic, X looks incredible!

I have the privelege of being friends with one of the inspectors for all new ride constuction at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

Today I went and saw both rides. Deja Vu for the most part is done. SFMM is not allowed to open it because there are too many problems with the original one (forget where it is at, sorry). That is why there is no landscaping or anything else around it yet. SFMM can no longer commit to an opening date.

X is scheduled to be done with construction on the track in less than a month. However, tests still need to be done. This is a first of its kind. Test dummies will be used first to determine the amount of stress being placed on the body. Then real people will be used. The ride looks awesome though. For anyone who hasn't figured it out, when you go up the lift, you go up backwards. Figure it out from there.

Flashback is also scheduled to be dismantled and moved to the rear of the park. Hurrican Harbor will then expand into it's space.

I went to SFMM just last Thursday. I got a good look at the location where X-Factor is under construction. I is located east of the Viper coaster, which will make it the prominent first site as guests enter the parking area (very good marketing ploy). If this site doesn't get your adrenaline pumping, you must be in a coma or dead.

As for Deja Vu, it seems to me that the track layout for this ride looks a lot like the Boomerang layout at Knott's. No real thrill there. :o

I did have to laugh at the continuing lack of theme there. In their "Baja" section of the park, where Viper and the venerable Revolution make their home, there is a Panda Express food location! :D

I think you will be suprised.... It is a hanging coster like Batman and is suppose to be really intense.

So, this is a dumb question, but when do you guys think X will be done. We're going next month. (Surely not by then, right?)

There is the slightest chance it might be open, but after Labor Day sounds better. Remember, this is a first of its kind, so who knows what will happen when they put the cars on the track and after that, actually put peole in it.
