Hi there!

I've heard a bunch of stories from various people telling me that Tokyo Disneyland is going to end pin trading.... I heard from a Japanese couple that they won't even allow pin bags into the park anymore... on dizpins, I read that they're officially stopping it in February.... a pin trader who was just there told me that they only have one pin trading station inside Tokyo Disneyland and pins were nowhere to be seen in the gift shops...

Can anyone tell me the story behind what happened to pin trading at Tokyo Disneyland? Why are they stopping pin trading? Are they going to stop selling pins too? I'm a pin trader/collector and want to know what I should expect when I go to visit TDR in a few weeks!

Thanks!!!!

LuvTDL,

It is all true....mostly. It was just TOO popular here at Tokyo Disneyland. Demand and behavior by many pin traders and collectors were too much for the park to maintain. People would bring suitcases and many many pin holders and lanyards to the park. They would set up not only around the Trading Stations themselves but also along World Bazaar (Main Street USA) and the main gateway entrance. This led to a decrease in the quality of atmosphere that Oriental Land Company and Disney want to maintain at the park.

In mid summer, they shut down the official pin stations and did not let people come display their goods at all. Lanyards and all were prohibited. The official trading stations are gone but you can still find pins. They are sold in a few of the shops, usually out of the way or towards the back of the shops. Pins are gone by February next year.
