I'm applying for seasonal work at my local Disney Store. Does anyone who's worked there have any suggestions for interviewing? I figure the basic Disney interview etiquette applies...any thoughts?

If you look through the news items or Google this, you'll learn that Children's Place has just taken over the Disney Stores. Disney doesn't own them anymore after the sale gets to be final in November. Children's Place will operate the Disney Stores as a Disney retailing specialty location, but who you'll be working for is Children's Place.

I worked seasonal work one Christmas for the Disney Store several years ago. At that time they were mostly interested in stop-loss (anti-employee theft and anti-shoplifting) and trained what to do and what to look for. Secondly they really wanted their staff to know the products of their assigned section of the store. Know how to fit children. Know age-and-sex appropriate toys or entertainment offerings (videos, games, CDs, read-a-longs, etc.) . Get down on the floor with children and interact with them at their eye level. This was back in 1992 and retailing and consumer tastes may have changed since then. Also since Children's Place is acquiring 313 North American Disney Stores in the next month Children's Place may have their own retailing culture which differs from Disney's. General retail knowledge, particularly of children's items, will be helpful, I would expect.

Children's Place stock shot up on the news the sale was being made final, by the way.

Try some of the above in your interview. Good luck. No guarantees any of the tips will work for you, however, that's my disclaimer! ;)

Great, thanks. I was wondering what was going to happen with the sale of the chain, and then the day after I submitted my resume the sale was announced. Go figure. But it's only seasonal work (and then I'm off to Florida!) so hopefully there won't be any big changes while I'm working there.
