In case all of you don't know already, in tomorrow night's episode of The Simpsons, "I'm Goin' to Praiseland," Homer and Ned are builing a Bible-themed amusement park. Given the title of the show, I think we can expect a few Disney references, so tune in . . .

Usually our family doesn't need a reason to watch the Simpsons, but throw in a Ned/Homer combination on a Disney-like themepark and I'll make sure the kids are tucked in by 8 for that one.

Best Simpson's episodes ever -

Homer's Phobia (a classic with John Waters)

Bart the Lover (Bart sets up Mrs. Krabappel with a picture of Gordie Howe)

Simpsoncalifragilisticexpiala(annoyed grunt)cious (Shary Bobins)

Treehouse of Horor I (James Earl Jones reading the Raven!)

Homer's Enemy ("I'm not your buddy Simpson. I don't like you. In fact, I hate you. Stay the hell away from me! Because from now on . . . we're enemies.")

Bart's Girlfriend (Jessica Lovejoy)

 There are just too many great ones to limit

Best Episodes Ever:

"Worse Episode Ever": Comic Book Guy goes to hospital, Bart & Milhouse run the Android's Dungeon. OK, so anything with one good Comic Book Guy line makes my best episode list.

"E-I-E-I-(Annoyed Grunt)": One word: Tomacco.

"Homer's Phobia": "It's camp!"

"Homer's Enemy": I hear Frank Grimes is even more hilarious when dubbed in Spanish. I hope to see that for myself some day.

"Treehouse of Horror VI": Clamation Homer in Tron-like universe.

"Itchy & Scratchy Land": No explanation needed.

I could go on and on . . .

My favorite Simpsons episodes are:

1. The serenading of Lisa by Bart & the Michael Jackson lookalike? ...Lisa Its your Birthday...
2. The family psychiatrist having to pay the Simpson family $$ to leave after he failed to "cure" them with shock treatment.
3. The Halloween episode where they tell scary stories and Nevermore.
4. The Danny DeVito episode where he lets Homer design his own version of a new car with the giant cupholder.

It's amazing to think that a cartoon is the longest running sitcom on TV today. It's one of the rare cases where everything falls perfectly into place. It's a great show.

Does anyone know what the current status is of The Simpsons Movie ?

How much of the film has been completed so far and will it be ready on time for Summer 2002 ?

Well, I did a quick search on www.snpp.com (cool site, by the way), and here's what came up:

"If you have ever browsed through alt.tv.simpsons or been subscribed to the Simpsons-L mailing list, you must have come across rumors of making a full-length Simpsons feature film. You may have heard stories about the Simpsons movie being listed on a mysterious DTS disc, or how James Cameron's digital graphics team is supposedly producing a movie to be released by the Christmas 1999 or summer 2000, depending on the source. Someone may even have pointed out to you that the domain www.simpsonsmovie.com has been reserved by Fox.

"Don't believe the hype. The Cameron rumor died out in lack of further evidence, nobody knows what exactly that alleged DTS disc contained, and simpsonsmovie.com is just one of over 200 domains reserved by the Fox corporation. Even the fact that the Internet Movie Database listed "The Simpsons Movie" due in 2002 cannot be considered evidence, because anybody can submit information to the database (the entry is now gone).

"The Simpsons will appear in an upcoming 45-minute IMAX compilation film "Cyberworld", but their appearance is limited to the "Homer3" segment from the episode "Treehouse of Horror VI."

"So far, there is no official information backing up the theory that a full-length Simpsons movie is currently in production. However, judging from the following excerpts, it is likely that a movie will be made some day. Until recently, the producers have stressed that it couldn't happen before the end of the series, but some of their latest comments suggest otherwise. See for yourself!"

There's a little more there. Zapppop, where have you heard about this? I hadn't until you mentioned it, although I did see the sign for "Cyberworld" last time I was at Citywalk.

Not a very good episode last night (I'm going to Praiseland!) Every once in a while they give you a clunker and this was one of them. Stupid plot device (gas making everyone see heaven), not too many guffaws (although Disco Stu in heaven with Frank Sinatra was pretty good), and did not seem like a very good satire on Disney. The good news is they have about one of these a season and this covers them for this year. Also, they could be shoveling the shineola on a weekly basis like on Two Guys and a Girl or Dharma and Greg.

Agreed, "I'm goin' to Praiseland" was not what I expected. Not sure if it was supposed to be a Disney satire or not--though "Itchy and Scratch Land" certainly was.

You have to admit that the situation Bart & friends found themselves in on the "Wild Ride" was a bit like I remember the old Universe of Energy--short entertaining bit followed by being trapped in a ride vehicle while forced to endure something educational for what seemed like an eternity.

My Top 10 Simpsons Episodes:

"Homer at the Bat": Mr. Burns hires a group of Major League Baseball players to work at his plant temporarily, so that he can win the plant's softball tournament.

Best line of the episode: (Mike Scoscia, weak after getting radiation poisoning) "Can't... lift... arm... or... speak... at... normal... rate."

"A Streetcar Named Marge": Marge plays Blanche DuBois in "Streetcar!", a musical version of "A Streetcar Named Desire."

Best line of the episode: (Ned Flanders, singing lyrics as Stanley Kuwalski) "STELLA! Oh, can't you hear me yella? You're puttin' me through hell-a! Oh, Stell-a... STELLA!"

"Flaming Moe's": Moe the Bartender steals Homer's receipe for a mixed drink, and makes a fortune from it.

Best line of the episode: (song, a la "Cheers" theme) "Happiness is just a Flaming Moe away."

"Marge vs. the Monorail": When the city receives a 3 million dollar windfall, a shifty con artist convinces them to build a shoddy monorail system.

Best line of the episode: (Homer) "Yes, son, I'm the best mono-thingy guy that ever lived."

"Homer's Phobia": Homer doesn't know quite what to think when he discovers that his new friend is gay.

Best line of the episode: (Moe) "Oh, yeah, the whole steel industry is gay nowadays. Steel, lumber, and you know what else? Broadway!"

"Deep Space Homer": Homer becomes an astronaut, with disasterous results.

Best line of the episode: (Homer) "The only danger is if they send us to that terrible Planet of the Apes. Wait a minute... Statue of Liberty... that was OUR planet! You blew it up! You maniacs! DAMN YOU! DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!!!"

"Lisa's Rival": The new transfer student in Lisa's class is even smarter than she is! And Homer and Bart "strike it rich" when they discover an overturned sugar truck, and steal the spilled sugar for themselves.

Best line of the episode: (Homer, talking in his sleep) "In America, first you get the sugar, then you get the power, then you get the women."

"Homer the Great": Homer is discovered to be the "Chosen One", the prophesized leader of the secret club, the Stonecutters.

Best line of the episode: (Lyrics to "The Stonecutters Song") "...Who holds back the electric car? Who makes Steve Guttenberg a star? We do! We do!"

"A Star is Burns": In a desperate attempt to bring some culture to the community, Springfield holds its very first film festival.

Best line of the episode: (Homer) "But it's a man... getting hit by a football! It's funny on so many levels!"

"22 Short Films About Springfield": A seemingly-random series of short tales about different residents all manage to tie into each other, a la "Pulp Fiction", to tell the story of an average day in Springfield.

Best line of the episode: (Cletus, throwing discarded boots back over a telephone wire where he originally foudn them) "Back you go, to waits for a woman of less discriminatin' tastes."

Of course, these are just MY favorites...!:D

Does anyone else sing the "monorail" song when they're in Tomorrowland?

MatterhornFan...best avenue to check on the Simpsons Movie is via the voice talent...I had heard some reports they were over in the UK doing the track.
I'll find out a final on this and post the results. (I've got a connection on the production team.)

I was so starting a thread on this yesterday but then i got interupted...thats so wierd...you have already seen all my favorite Ralph quotes...i'll move on to homer.

HOMER: “Marge, it takes two to lie. One to lie and one to listen.”

or

HOMER: Marge: Homer! Stop! you'll kill us all!
Homer: Or die trying!

or

Homer: Let that be a lesson to you, sweetie. Never love anything.
Lisa: Even you?
Homer: Especially me.

or

Marge: How was your day at work, dear?
Homer: Oh, the usual. Stand in front of this, open that, pull down this, bend over, spread apart that, turn your head that way, cough …

or

Milhouse: "And do you remember the time when Santa's Little Helper ate my goldfish, and you tried to convince me that I never had a goldfish ... but why did I have the bowl Bart, why did I have the bowl?"

or

Hutz: Now don’t you worry, Mrs Simpson. I … Uh-oh. We’ve drawn Judge Snyder.
Marge: Is that bad?
Hutz: Well, he’s had it in for me ever since I kinda ran over his dog.
Marge: You did?
Hutz: Well replace the word ‘kinda’ with the word ‘repeatedly’ and the word ‘dog’ with ‘son’.

or

Hutz(lawyer): "I've argued in front of every judge in this state. Often as a lawyer.”

or

Troy McClure: “Oh, hi. I’m Troy McClure. You might remember me from such self-help videos as Smoke Yourself Thin and Get Confident, Stupid.”

or

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmhhhhhhhh cake..ahhahahahahahahaha

One of my favorites was on tonight (7/31), the one where the Springfield kids tell all the adults secrets and at the end they sings a parody of kids...

Trivia: What state do the simpsons live in???
