View Full Version : Will odd number of people make rides difficult?

I’ve read over these forums pretty thoroughly, but I have not found the answer to this scenario.

We have 5 people in our family; two adults, and three kids. Will having an “odd number” of people make it difficult for us to ride certain rides together?

For example, Autotopia. I get the impression that this is only a 2 person per car ride.

If this is true I’m not sure how we will handle getting all the kids on the ride, without “leaving one behind” or having to wait through the whole line again? Do my wife and I do some fancy “switching off” until all three of the kids get a chance to ride?

Are there other rides that may cause similar “difficulty? If so, do you have any suggestions on how handle it?

Additional details:
We are going to Disneyland next Wednesday. (So hopefully the crowds will be smaller.) We will not be going to DCA.

The kids are a 4 yr old, a 5 yr old, and 7 yr old.
The 7 yr old is the only one over 44 inches.

Other than Splash Mountain, or Pirates of Carribean, they’ll mainly be going on more subdued rides. So I don’t need any tips for rides such as Indiana Jones, Haunted Mansion, or Star Tours.

I have enjoyed reading these forums and found them to be a wealth of knowledge!
Thank you, in advance for your help!

You should be okay for most of the rides, if you 7 year old is over 52 inches they can drive autopia alone. Other wise one of the adults can pair up with 2 of the kids. My wife and I took our 2 year old and rode in one Autopia Car.(Grandparents drove in front and behind to prevent to occasional bad driver).

Some of the Fantasy land rides my require you to spilt into two groups, depending on how many they hold: Alice could possibly fit all five 2 in front and 3 in the back, Toad would require to ride in at least two different cars as well as Peter Pan, Dumbo and Roger Rabbits Cartoon spin. You can probably all get in once car on Pooh. Haunted MAnsion will have you in two Doom Buggies.

For other thrill rides that the little ones can't ride, you can ask the CM at the front of the line for a child swap pass. This will let one or more of you wait in line while the others do something else. Then once they finish the ride they give you the pass and you get to near the front of the line.

Most rides you will be fine with 5. Worst case scenario, you will be split up to a group of 2 and a group of 3.

If you ride HMH you will have to split up 2 and 3. Only three people at most are allowed in a doombuggy.

Splash Mountain seats 5 in a log so you'll be in good shape for that ride! Have a
great time!

Since you'll be in Fantasyland a lot, here's the breakdown:
Peter Pan: You'll need to sit 2 and 3 (one adult in each ship)
Mr. Toad: You'll need to sit 2 and 3 (one adult in each car, not as roomy as Peter)
Snow White/Pinocchio: You can all fit in one car.
Alice: You can all be in one car, more weight goes in the back
Tea Cups: you can all fit in one
Small World: You'll have your own row (or two)
Storybook: no problem
Casey Jr.: You can all fit in one cage
Carrousel: You can all go at the same time.
Dumbo: You'll need to sit 2 and 3 (one adult in each elephant)

You can fit three in an autopia car (if two are little). Adult operates the pedal, kid steers.

Thank you eveyone!
This is exactly what I needed.

Niwel, you are right. I'm sure we'll be spending a lot of time in Fantasyland.
