View Full Version : I need Knott's Advice...
Wendi 09-22-2004, 09:34 AM I am planning my Disneyland trip for November 1-5, but all along I've been toying with the idea of coming down a day early (just me and my almost 3 year old son) and going to Knott's for the day with him - he loves Snoopy, and I've read that they have trick-or-treat during the day for the kiddos. We would do Knott's from opening time until afternoon (possibly closing time at 5) and then head over to Disneyland for the evening.
What hotel would you recommend? Are there any near Disneyland that offer a free (or cheap) shuttle to Knott's?
Are there any Knott's discounts available at this time of year (just one adult ticket)?
I had thought about flying in and heading straight to Knott's from the airport - we could send our luggage with the rest of the family and just take enough to get us through the day, but then I remembered I'd have the carseat. So, I will need to go to the hotel first.
I am considering staying at the Radisson Knott's Berry Farm, I'm pretty sure they offer a shuttle to Disneyland... they are a little expensive, but it may be cheaper and more convenient to do that if they have a free shuttle. We could stay at the Hojo too... But first off, does anyone know if there is indeed a shuttle from Radisson Knott's to DLR, and if so, is it often and does the last shuttle go back slightly after DL closes?
I have more questions, but I'll take any advice you've got on these first! Thanks!!!
sediment 09-22-2004, 09:51 AM If you come down a day earlier, head to Disneyland. The Disney Villains have come out on Halloween in the past. Rare sightings, if you're into that kind of thing.

Yes, that is one of the things I'm really looking forward to!!!
Hakuna Makarla 09-22-2004, 10:32 AM we did knotts, and took a taxi there and then back that evening to disneyland ( stayed right across the street from disneyland at the carousel) it costs 20.00 but, there is a shuttle there from any motel and it costs less then taxi service! we did not do it as you must stay until they come in the evening and I was not sure I wanted tostay the full time. I did though so I would have saved money by taking it..
knotts full day is 43.00 and 12.95 for kids.
we enjoyed our day there, and son liked it because it had cars and trucks( he will play with nothing else) So we did have a few good hours there. rode the big train, and most of the rides. Some of those rides are crazy! would back away from some as they scared me just looking at them LOL!

Camp Spooky's last day is Saturday October 30th. The special kids event is held on Fridays and Saturdays in October during normal park hours.
Mukta 09-22-2004, 11:43 AM The last time I checked, AAA offered a 25% discount for Knott's with membership card.
Wendi 09-23-2004, 07:06 PM Thanks for all the info... I checked the Airport Bus site and it's $12! I can rent a car for $15 (a normal sized car too!) with my entertainment card. I think I might just stay at the Radisson Knott's afterall since they offer a shuttle to DL. That way I won't need a bus or a car or anything else. I was thinking it would be cheaper to stay at Hojo, but I think this will end up being more convenient, and probably not much more expensive... still gotta think it through some more though.
Keep it coming if you have any other advice to add though, I'm open to any info!!!
Brian Noble 09-24-2004, 08:03 AM If you are going to be spending more days at DLR than KBF, I'd stay closer to the former, and figure out a way to get to the latter for one day---you'll quickly grow to despise the extra quarter hour or so on the shuttle each day to Disneyland. For the few tens of dollars a one-day car would cost, you'll be buying a lot of convenience. Plus, there are several car rental agencies right next to the resort. For example, there is a National office in the south edge of the same block that DCA/Timon are in.
Hakuna Makarla 09-24-2004, 09:12 AM I agree with Brian, you will get real tired of taking the shuttle to disneyland from the radison, and also the shuttle you would take is on there time not yours. I found this out when we stayed in san Diego and the motel had a shuttle. We had to go when they got back or when they had an opening. Not to convient. Stay by disneyland and you will make it easier on your self. Also if you can rent a car for 15.00 do it, saves you money and then you can get to a store to.
Wendi 09-24-2004, 09:47 AM Sorry, I didn't make it very clear. I am staying at GCH November 1-5, this extra day would just be for October 31st to visit Knott's early in the day and DLR in the afternoon/evening. I really want to fly into SNA, but flights to LAX are half the price, so I think I'm going to have to fly into LAX and take Super Shuttle or rent a car. The issue I have is that if I take Super Shuttle I will have to be able to get to Knott's and DL from the hotel. If I rent a car, I will have to return it to the airport the following day and I don't think I'll be able to do that easily.
