First of all, I would like to thank everyone who posted suggestions on my previous post, "At What Age." It was incredibly helpfull.
My wife and I decided that we were going to take our son to Disneyland for the first time on my birthday, Oct. 29.
Well, Saturday was a very quite day and I suggested to my wife that perhaps a quick trip to Disneyland might in order. She thought that was a great idea.
As we approached the entrance to DL I was not ready for the rush of emotions that hit me. I am a born and raised Los Angeleno. I have been to DL countless times as child with my family. Even more times as an Adult. I even proposed to my wife at DL. I was not aware of how it would feel being a father taking my son to DL.
When we walked into the park I had to catch my breath. I looked down at my son, who had just turned one month that day and started beaming. My wife looked at me and had a huge smile on her face. "I know," She said.
The first thing I did was take her to the BCC. After reading all the posts about it, I wanted my wife to see it. As she had never heard about it she looked at me rather quizacly. Well she went in. About five minutes latter, she came out and her face was lit up brighter than IASW during the holidays!! "You've got to see this!" she said. I went in and she gave me a quick tour. I was very impressed as well. She told me she wanted to change and feed our son. I told her I would wander about and she should call me when they were ready.
The first thing I did was buy A Pooh Mylar Baloon and attach it to the stroller. My next mission was to get the smallest Mickey ears I could. I went to the Mad Hatter and bought an Infant set of ears and had his name put on the back. I was just finishing up and my wife called and said they were ready.
I had the ears behind my back as I came up to them. My wife was smiling at the Pooh baloon. I said to my son, "May I present you with your first Mickey Ears?" As I palced the ears on his head. My wife was almost in tears. The ears I admit were to big, but they syaed on for a few photos.
We didn't go on any rides because we just wanted our son to get a taste of the park. My wife and I were thrilled just to walk around the park and show our son tha park.
He was getting a little tired, and it was around 9PM, so we decided it was time to head home. I bought him a small Sorcerer Mickey and put it in the stroller with him. he was drifting off to sleep and he very gently put his hand on Mickey and gave us a smile.
We are going Back on the 29th of October with him and will definatley go on rides.
It was truly magical!
