Last weekend my friend Joe, his pal David and I went to Lake Compounce in Bristol, CT. It's the United States' first amusement park and I'd never heard of it before. For anyone in New England or the surrounding area I'd like to recommend the park. It's really family-oriented with kids rides, a lake with paddle boats, a water play area for the kids that was really impressive. They've got some roller coasters, one goes up a mountain. I'm too chicken to ride. LOL But it was really a nice and relaxed place. Garfield and Odie are there, they have a little show that's short and sweet. Wanted to put the good word out there. Ah and it's cleaner than any Six Flags I've been to.

I am from CT and I think I've been there once. I went with my father years ago before they had it refurbished. The original wooden roller coaster was called the Wildcat, I think. All I remember was my dad sitting next to me... screaming like a girl. It was hysterical.

Lake Compounce is an old trolley park. It is not the 1st park, it is the old continous operating park. But that is kind of cheesy. A few years in the early 90s it was only open for Labor Day weekend.

The park was bought buy Kennywoods a few years ago and every year they had added to the park. It is great on a hot day if you like to get wet. It has a small water park in it, a log flume and rapids raft ride. Boulder Dash is the woodie they added a few years ago that goes along the mountain. They also have the Wildcat that was built in the 30s. The 3rd coaster is a boomerang. They added a drop ride this past season.

They have had a string of bad luck the past few years. It started with a landscaper that kill while working under Boulder Dash during the morning test runs. Then a working with the indoor Scrambler walked between the cars while it was slowing down, fell and got crushed.

The next season, a small non-swimming child went down a water slide alone in a tube. The ride empties into the lake. The child fell out of the tube and never surfaced. The lake is deep and the ride creates a current. He drowned before they found his body.

This past spring, a child was killed when a branch dropped about 60 feet from an lod oak tree.

Other that that it is a fun park.
