The events of today inspired me to make a thread devoted to all computer related grief.
I haven't been able to get into my lab manuals for school from my home computer, and theorized it was because of the updates I recently downloaded from Windows. I spent a long time uninstalling them one at a time to see if I could get to my manuals. I eventually uninstalled all of them, and still couldn't get into the manuals. After all that time spent, it occured to me. The labs open a new window. It was my pop-up blocker that was blocking me from my labs the whole time!
So what computer issues have you all had?

mostly viruses and spyware. Both easy enough to get rid of. :)

A long long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, my computer froze up when I was playing Progress Quest.
Never had any problems since =)

My frustration can be summed up in one word. MICROSOFT
I have to deal with their Virus/Spyware magnet software @ work and I hate it.
I go to work and have to hear how some College Grad Officer would like me to look at his home computer, 'cause he and his wife can't supervise their child enough on the damn thing and he downloaded a virus or spyware, or how they just had to have the 6" extension for that Special part of the male anatomy that he opened the spam email and got the latest virus that is sweeping the internet. I just laugh, charge them a mild fee and teach them how to get rid of it, and setup their Antivirus and firewall programs, then send them on their way. With a copy of the latest Knoppix Live CD to play with.
Of course, then I come home boot up my SuSE Linux Workstation and go to town. It's great, I don't get the Anoying viri that go around. Spyware can't hurt me. and I get to learn a little bit more about the computer along the way.
I can't tell you how many GB's I have saved from other people's dead systems by booting into Knoppix Live-CD and burning their files to CD, or transfering them to a thumb drive - Of course, I always leave them with the Boot CD, so they can play with a REAL OS
and before you ask. I do have two Windows Machines in my house. one is a laptop that my wife uses to surf the web and one sits right next to me encoding and burning DVD's. Once I figure out how to burn 1 DVD to 3 Drives at once in linux, that windows machine will be UPGRADED to Linux as well.
End of Rant.

Though I tend to agree with you, and I don't want to hijack this thread so don't take this the wrong way - my biggest frustrations lately have been dealing with Linux and wireless networking.
I own three different wifi cards for my laptop, and all work in MS operating systems, but not in Linux. I think I've wasted a whole day trying to follow different pieces of advice that didn't pan out. I hate having to go plug into the router just to practice my Linux skills.

I understand Perfectly. I had the same problem with Writing DVD's in Linux. Cost me $89.95 for the newest Version of SuSE so get that specific requirement working.
The Wife still won't use linux. but she will come around sooner or later.

Did you know you can download (http://www.suse.com/us/private/download/ftp/personal_iso_int.html) SuSE Linux, as with all Linux distros, for free?

Yes,
Unfortunatly it is a cut down version of the Personal Version of thier Software. I needed the Pro Version as I run it on my Server as well.
