We are going the second week in Dec. Just found out that the parks close around 6pm :crying: This leaves us quite a bit of time at the DL hotel. We usually go in the summer and take full advantage of the great pools. Is it realistic to think that we can still swim in Dec. They do say the pools are heated, but how warm are they realy? We don't want to turn into human popcycles :fez: Also if the pools are open, are the slides?

i'd call the hotel and ask. we're staying at the HOJO in early january, i called and they said it is heated into the high 80's or low 90's all winter, so perfect temperature for a chilly day.

If the pool is heated then you should be fine. It's when the pools aren't heated that swimming isn't a good idea. Make sure you bring large fluffy toowels with you because after getting out of a heated pool the air (especially during december) is shockingly cold.

Even though the parks close at 6:00, there is still a ton to do. Eat dinner in one of the hotels or DTD after the park closes. You can swim, see a movie in DTD, watch Disney movies in the hotel, check out the Dancing Water show at the DLH, shop, do a character dinner. I would definetly try the pool. I like swimming in a warm pool when it's cool out and so do my kids.
We are staying at the DLH in Dec. too.

Are you staying earluer in the week (Mon - Thurs?) We're there Dec 9 - 14, and certainly during the weekend the hours are a bit longer. If the pools are heated they should be fine - and don't forget the hot tubs!

Ahhh... you must be going on the Monday and Tuesday when CM parties are held. I think I would go out to dinner after the parks close, go for a swim or sit in the hot tub if it's comfortable out or go shopping. Will you have a car? Are you coming from a cold weather locale? If so, you will probably find it pretty warm in anaheim during your stay... but it's possible that it will be chilly and/or raining.

If women suffered from shrinkage, I would live in the water ;)

Rentayenta...you are so funny! I'll come join you in the water! :)
Two pieces of info...my sister went to the DLH last November and the pool was not heated. I went last May and the pool was not heated then either and it was a bit chilly at night even though the days were warm. But the jacuzzi was nice and hot.
One other thing, if we had stayed at DLH one more night (this past Monday) we wanted to eat at Hook's Point, but they told us it was going to be closed due to the new fall schedule. I would call ahead and check to see the days and times that the restaurants you are interested in are going to be open.
Now that I've gone to DL at various times of the year I really think they ought to charge one price for weekends and high season when they offer everything and a lesser price for weekdays and low season when they offer less. The hotels already do this, but the parks should do it too. 8-midnight(16 hours) versus 10-6 (8 hours) is a BIG difference.

i think they are heated. but i would still say that there is a lot to do. you don't have to stay on disney property (just an opinion). besides, if the pool was heated, you wouldn't know if it WAS heated with a water heater or....-ehem-
