Sad day, it's on the official site, Le Visionarium, the 360° show featuring Timekeeper and 9-Eye close today. It was rumoured a long time ago, but this time it's official... :(
They say, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blaster is coming...

Thank goodness, a step in the right direction. If only Space Mountain had had its track ripped out and made kid friendly during referb Discoveryland would be worth visiting (before you all jump in with "but it's so much better than Tomorrowland at Disneyland"-it isn't ) :D

Space Mountain internal refurb has not even begun, it will be closed for many weeks next year... And I think Discoveryland is worth visiting anyway :)

So it’s actually true.
When we visited the Park last time (28/29-08-2004) the CM’s couldn’t tell us if the rumors were true. I guess it’s sad, I really liked this film, especially the Concorde part of it. :crying:
Olivier, do you know what they will be doing with this area?? Will another one replace this attraction?

Sorry, I didn’t read the whole thread.
Well, perhaps the new Buzz Lightyear
Attraction will be better. For now I’m still a little disappointed.

Yes it is on the official site :

It's a very sad news for me, but I guess this had to happen... :(
I think there are already plans for a Buzz Lightyear Astro Blaster ride, but as it is quite big, they may find more room in the video game arcade and the annual passport office (which may move somewhere else). To me, this ride doesn't fit at all the Discoveryland theme, but I'm sure the external parts will remain Discoveryland-ish :D !

I'll miss the attraction too. Always enjoyed it.

Does anyone have a bad feeling that the reason for the attractions closure may have more to do with budget cuts, then it does with a new Buzz attraction?

Most likely. I was told the closure was due to the lack of money to keep the attraction operating after the sponsor left last year. However, I have also heard that the plans for the Buzz Lightyear ride are about as solid as the ones for the Little Mermaid ride. Also, with Space Mountain closing for 3 months for refurbishment, it's possible they may reopen Le Visionarium for that time.
Until the new financial restructuring plan has been approved, I suspect this attraction will remain closed & no changes to it will be made.

It make a good addition during the peak season, and when other attraction are closed.Kind of like Carousel of Progress is to the Magic Kingdom in Orlando.
