I am going the second week of Dec. and taking my autistic son with me. He loves DL and we go at least once a year. This is the first trip we will not be using the SA pass. I need to be very organized and have a great "plan of attack" for the parks. CA has never been a prob since it never seems to be crowded, we never used the pass there, however DL is a different subject. Does anyone have any sugesstions on which order we should visit the lands? He can wait up to 15 min until he has a severe anxiety attack! This is why we usually used the SA pass for the "long wait" rides. Also will the crowds be bad since we will be there the Mon following the candellight cermony? I am looking so forward to this trip, never been there around Christmas. :D I did notice that at our last visit there seemed to be alot of people in the SA line who apperard to be fine, and they had there entire parties with them, up to 6 people with each pass!! When I used the pass I took only my son with me and the rest of our party waited in the line like the rest of the people. If they made a rule that each disabled person can be accompied by ONE person only, that might decrease some of the cheats :(

I highly recommend Ride Max.

It is a computer software program you download. THe people who wrote the program have done TONS of research on when the best times are to ride rides, with a minimum wait. You enter in the days and hours you will be in the park, and the attractions you want to ride (be sure to schedule in 'breaks' so you have time to see shows you want to see). THe program then calculates the best times to ride with the least wait possible.

It costs less than $15.00, and IMO, is well worth the money.

I hope it works for you as well as it worked for us!!

I am very sad to hear about the one person per disabled child. My son too is autistic and this will be his first visit in October. I can't wait but was really relying on the SA pass. We are even bringing his habilitationist with us to assist. However, my son won't even wait for 15 minutes once he realizes how much fun he's having. I was hoping we could all wait together so we can rotate entertaining him. Once your child starts to tantrum, have you noticed that they'll bump you on to the ride a little faster? If not, I will be sooooo bumbed. Do you have to get a SA pass at both DL and CA or is your DL pass okay for CA as well?

downtownamybrown, if you re read the post, the person didn't say there was a limit of one on one, just that they thought it might be a good idea to cut down on those who try to abuse the system.

May I ask why you are not getting a pass? Yes, Special assistance passes have been eliminated but they have a new Guest assistance card that is Tailored to each Disabled persons needs. Your son will qualify for some type of card but you will have to go to guest relations and plan out your day with them and it will be determined which pass would best accommodate your son. They will ask you what kind of assistance you need. From there you will need to answer a few questions and then the proper card will be assigned to your son. I hope you enjoy your visit and I hope you go to city hall and get your sons needs accommodated.
