I often thought something like this would be very popular in Europe. Good to see it happening. :cool:

I apologise upfront if people find this offensive but why do Disney have Gay Weekends at their parks??? What is their purpose.??? For me one of the delights of Disney is that there isn't any real mention of sex (apart from the wonders of me show in Epcot and the fact that all the princesses are paired of with princes) so I would have presumed it would have appealed to Gay and Straight people alike. Im presuming i'm missing the point of these Gay weekends so i wondered if anyone could enlighten me as to their purpose.

Gay Days, as with most other third-party events, are not sponsored or promoted by Disney.

To me there is absolutely no mention of sex in that event, I think that gays that want to find a date will go somewhere else (Le gay Paris is very close :D ). I think it's just a funny event for everyone, gays, families, friends, well in fact everyone who love Mickey Mouse.
I don't know if that event will be popular here because gays usually don't need a special day to enjoy Disneyland, I often see guys walking hand in hand in the park (anytime of the year), and absolutely no one cares.
You know this is Europe, we don't have much fundamentalists that would dare to demonstrate in front of DLRP gates trying to stop that event. ;)

While I have never gone to the Gay Days here in the US, I can say that I think it's great that the folks over in Europe get to have a "family gathering" of their own closer to home. The whole idea behind Gay Days is not to have sex in the parks or even to act out in such a manner to call attention to yourself or your group. The idea is to be there surrounded by people and their families that share a common bond.....in this case, it's being gay.

Being gay in the real world is not easy in some areas of the world. I have lived in rural areas as well as in a major metropolitan area. I can say that even in an area as open minded as Atlanta can be, it still has it's moments when I find myself feeling less than safe. And I won't even go into how uncomfortable I feel when I visit my Dad in rural south Georgia. For the gay people, especially those with children that live in those less than open minded rural settings, I can see Gay Days at Disney as being quite possibly about the most awesome vacation opportunity ever. Just imagine being in the most magical place on Earth and being able to be yourself with your partner and your kids with no fear...it must be about as close to Heaven as those folks can find on Earth.

Anyway, I think it's great that DLRP is getting a Gay Days event of their own. I wouldn't mind joining in on a Gay Days event, but in the Florida heat in June, I would melt. Maybe the new event at DLRP is the answer.....hmmm

Thanks for the info. Maybe its up to Disneyland Paris then to lead the way so that Gay people can feel comfortable in the parks at anytime without the need for Special days. It would be nice to think that the common bond we all share while we are in the parks is a love of Disney. Personally when i'm hanging on for dear life on Space Mountain or singing along to its a small world the last thing on my mind is the sexuality of the other people on the attraction!!!!
