View Full Version : Booked West Coast '05? Post Here
Niwel 08-29-2004, 12:19 AM So I can be jealous. :D
I know some of you already booked for the West Coast cruises. Post here if you are interested in seeing who else on the pad will be cruising with you -- when you are booked and who in your party is going (names not needed, but ages are OK so the kidlets can meet).
**If you wish to exchange personal info with someone, don't forget to use the PM function.
only1mouse 09-22-2004, 10:32 PM Sooo, This post has been out for awhile, and no one has replied. I am currently booked on the last cruise before the ship heads back to Florida. I'm so excite!d! I've always told all my friends that I would be on the first cruise that leaves out of California, but school was still in session, so we chose the last cruise. I'm looking so forward to going. Yes, I've heard it was more expensive than the cruises out of Florida, but it's my first cruise, and I love DISNEY. Any other takers?????/
August 13th is our official sail date - any others around this time??
On this cruise is my husband, and my two 10 year olds, (one girl one boy)!!
Niwel 09-22-2004, 10:38 PM Thanks only1mouse -- it only takes one person to step up and others usually will get more comfortable.
Have a great cruise!
Disneyphile 10-05-2004, 01:03 PM My honey and I are setting sail June 4th - 11th. :D
I'm already designing my "Mickey-ized" gown for the formal night. :)

Hi all,
My partner and I are scheduled for the 2 week cruise departing May 14th. We are looking to start communicating with others that will be on the cruise. For those of you that were not able to get on this one, you might try calling back in March when it comes time for folks to pay for the cruises in full. Some might change their minds when they have to come up with a few thousand dollars. Good Luck. We are looking foward to getting our info for shore excursion and all the other info.

WvT3rd 11-08-2004, 03:56 PM We found out last week that we're getting to go on the repositioning cruise in May! We had been waitlisted, but it looks like we cleared for takeoff - ah..castoff? Can't wait!
Congratulations!
My understanding is that while the original reservations for the Florida-to-California two-week repositioning cruise through the Panama Canal sold out in record time (hours, I'm told), a number of reservations fell through when people didn't put down their required deposit. You can expect there to be more openings next year when people fail to pay their balance.
Disney is treating your cruise as an inaugural one, since it's never done that route in that direction before. Expect there to be special things, including gifts in your stateroom!
Can I say I'm jealous? I could go into debt up to my ears, but I can't take two weeks off.
-- Lani, only 8 days since she was on the Disney Magic.
Tony and I are also on the May repositioning cruise!!!! (Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait...)

Aunt Sas 12-15-2004, 10:15 AM I'm new to this board but wanted to add that we leave on our cruise on July 30. My sister, brother-in-law, niece, nephew and great-niece are all going. They have been on the cruise leaving from Florida but this is my first Disney cruise so am looking forward to the excitement.

Disneyland4Jamy 01-01-2005, 11:31 AM This will be my first cruise, so what better way to start than with a Disney Cruise? We are celebrating my friend's birthday, too. Luckily, she is a seasoned cruiser. I am anxious to get our excursion options and further info in the mail. :)
Disneyphile 01-25-2005, 01:57 PM I'm still awaiting excursion options also. Any of you experienced cruisers know how soon in advance they'll send the info? I'm hoping for a dolphin encounter, and I know that will sell-out quickly.

I know this doesn't answer your question, but when I was at WDW in December with a friend, she did the Sea World Dolphin Encounter.
She had an absolute blast and felt it was worth every penny. You spend the day learning about the dolphins then get to interact with them in a small group setting. There's an official photographer and a videographer taping the encounter. She paid for both the photos and the videotape and was thrilled with the results.
If you find you won't be able to do the cruise dolphin encounter, maybe you could fit in a side trip to Sea World Orlando if you make out to Florida in the near future....

Niwel 01-25-2005, 02:03 PM All I can say is keep checking the DCL site under "Ports of Call" then click "special cruises." They should have something soon -- if anything the info will be in your docs (but I hope they send something out before that).
You can also check under another cruise line's site -- like Royal Carribbean.com -- and see what excursions they have on their Mexican Riviera trips. Disney will probably offer the same ones.
only1mouse 01-25-2005, 09:29 PM Before I post the link I wanted to make sure it's ok - there is a travel agent who does have these published as of this past weekend. Is it ok for me to post the link here? If so, I will.....
Go for it - I know I still want to see what they are
only1mouse 01-26-2005, 03:11 PM Here's the url for the travel agency who has these listed. Scroll down about 1/2 way and they are on the right side... http://www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com/cruise/
Disneyphile 01-31-2005, 01:29 PM Just called, and we can't book shore excursions until 90 days prior to our sailing date. So, I have that date marked on my calendar, and I am SO booking for Puerto Vallarta:
Swim with Dolphins (3 - 3.5 hours)
I'm literally sitting here drooling. I've always wanted to do this! :D
Kitty&Pookie&P 02-01-2005, 01:57 AM Hello all!,
We will be traveling on the June 4th-11th cruise. Our group will be me(25), my husband (30), son(4), sister(36) and niece(2). We will be celebrating my sister's 37th birthday (She was born on June 1st) and that is the reason why we are all going on the cruise in the first place. (It's her birthday gift to herself!!!) I am so excited since this is my very first cruise and it will be the first Disney cruise for all of us!! My son is so looking forward to going since he adores Mickey (he even gets excited when he sees the sorcerer hat outside the Disney animation building on our way to the LA zoo!!) and can't wait to see another place where Mickey "lives". Does anyone know if kids can wear their costumes almost all the time? My son (and niece ) have so many costumes but I just don't want to pack them all and have to worry about them. Anyway, I thought I would post here and maybe I will see some of you lovely people on the cruise!!
Disneyphile 02-01-2005, 10:30 AM Anyway, I thought I would post here and maybe I will see some of you lovely people on the cruise!!My boyfriend and I will be there. :)
And like you, it's also my first cruise ever!! It's exciting, isn't it?? :D
I've watched the cruise planning video a few times already.
Niwel 02-01-2005, 10:50 AM Does anyone know if kids can wear their costumes almost all the time? My son (and niece ) have so many costumes but I just don't want to pack them all and have to worry about them.
I've seen kids wear costumes all the time (meals, shows, sometimes during the day)... they also have a chance to "dress up" at the Oceaneers Club. Maybe pack one or two for each kid if they really want to dress up around the ship ...
Kitty&Pookie&P 02-01-2005, 12:33 PM Yeah, my niece loves watching the cruise dvd all the time. (Especially because it has Ariel on it and that is her favorite princess.)
Well, I guess I will have to make my son only choose two costumes to take. Actually, he will have to choose only one since I know he will want to take his Mickey costume. (Even though I know it is going to be so hot!!!)
My son and I are so excited!! My husband only cares about sleeping and getting a massage. Figures!!
Disneyphile 02-01-2005, 04:10 PM The Travel Channel also had a Disney Cruise special that we had Tivo'd - it really went behind the scenes into the history of the Magic.
Aaaagh! Why can't it be June yet???
Niwel 02-01-2005, 04:17 PM The Travel Channel also had a Disney Cruise special that we had Tivo'd - it really went behind the scenes into the history of the Magic.
OMG -- I LOVED that special. I have to remember to tape it. There was also the "According to Jim" episode on the Magic (I got that one). Plus if you ever catch Travel Channel's World's Best Cruise ships, DCL is No. 1 (http://travel.discovery.com/fansites/worldsbest/wbcruises/wbcruises4.html) for families.
Kitty&Pookie&P 02-01-2005, 11:05 PM Oh yeah we had that one tivo'd too. (The Travel channel special) My son was just concerned about Mickey and the Mickey shaped pool. Everything else was like "Oh, yeah, cool." I didn't even know they had an According to Jim episode on the Magic. (I don't watch a lot of sitcoms on a regular basis.)
So Disneyphile, are you only going to be doing the dolphin experience or are there any other options that you and your boyfriend are considering doing.
I wanted to take my son and do the dolphin swim but my mother got him all freaked out about swimming with them. (Even though he loves them at Sea World and enjoys petting them) So now I am debating about the snorkeling thing. At least I know I've got close to a month to think about it before I book.
Disneyphile 02-02-2005, 10:47 AM So Disneyphile, are you only going to be doing the dolphin experience or are there any other options that you and your boyfriend are considering doing.
We might. I haven't gone over the whole list with him yet. The dolphin swim is the most important to me though. I wouldn't mind doing one of the Sierra Madre things too. There is also a Dolphin Encounter, in which your son could interact with the dolphin without having to swim with them, so that might be an option for you.
Oh, and the cruise reservation line opens at 6am PST on March 6th (Sunday). ;) I've already got it marked on my calendar. :D
