Do they allow you to take an infant on a ride if she is in an infant carrier? Or would you have to take her out to ride?

I've never seen anyone even try. I would think it would be a pain to have to drag it through the line but beyond that, I don't think there would be enough room on the rides for the carrier.

I would be very surprised if they allowed it because there would be no way to secure it. On rides with a lap bar, the baby has to be able to be under the lapbar while on your lap, for example. Also, keep in mind, even rides that are big enough for baby strollers require babies to be OUT of their strollers (such as the parking lot tram and trains.)

Try a baby sling or a baby carrier (such as a baby bjorn) if you need to carry a baby in line. They work really well.

I forgot to mention that except for rather roomy rides like the monorail or DLRR, they probably wouldn't have room to store an empty carrier on the ride, so you'll most likely have to keep it on your stroller while you're riding. There would not be anywhere to store it where the rides board and some rides don't exit in the same place where you board anyway (Haunted Mansion, Fantasyland rides, etc.)

We've never tried it on anything else (for the same basic reasons AK just listed), but we have kept our son in his infant carrier on the parking lot tram and on the Disneyland Railroad.

Oops, I should probably clarify. I meant a carrier like a Baby Bjorn, not the infant carrier like a carseat thing. So you think it would be ok to bring an infant on a ride in a Baby Bjorn? Or would they make you take the infant out? Obviously, they will be the slow rides in Fantasyland and such, so hopefully there shouldn't be too much of a safety issue.

If there is a lapbar or seatbelt, they will almost certainly make you take the baby out of the sling and hold him/her securely under the lapbar/belt. On something like Pirates or Small World (which have no restraints), I'm not sure whether they would allow the baby to remain in the sling or not.

Either way, it probably will be helpful while waiting in line.

And I don't really understand the logic of such a requirement. The carrier would be secured to the adult, which is secured by the lap belt. Also, putting baby between the adult and the lap bar will just give you a squished baby in the event of a sudden stop (which does happen).

Bill, Bill, Bill, don't be silly bringing LOGIC into this discussion! We're talking about Disney and lawyers, here, Silly!

I can attest to the presence of the baby under the lapbar thing (as I mentioned it earlier,) because on Colin's first trip to hell earlier this year, they made me sit him on my lap with the bar over his lap.

Baby Bjorns at the park just rock. I agree with what Jeff said, they might make you take the baby out for rides with lap bars but maybe not on boat rides ala iasw & POTC. I think I have a picture of one of my babies in a Baby Bjorn on the Jungle Cruise. I know I've seen it on an album page ;)

We went in July with my then 6 week old son and I took him on almost everything in the Baby Bjorn and was never asked to take him out...Pirates, Peter Pan, Snow White, Small world..it worked really well for us :)

One thing about DL Peter Pan that I just found out the hard way - a baby in a front pack carrier is considered to be "on" the mom so just taking up one space - if you have the baby in your arms you are "two people" and if you have a husband and another child like I do they will make you take a separate vehicle. My husband and my son rode one and I had to ride alone with the baby not seeing my son's face during Peter Pan's Flight. It was a bummer.

At least that was with the operator that night, I don't know if that is a hard and fast rule. She told me "I know it's wierd, but if she was "on" you, you could all ride together."

Thanks for all the replies. I will definately be bringing my Baby Bjorn with me when I go this week. I wanted to try to go without a stroller and see how it goes.
