I haven't seen many movies this summer. None of them look good to me. The previews for The Village look really interesting.

I saw:
Van Helsing-the costumes were good, but that's about all.

Ella Enchanted-really nice movie I would recommend especially for 10 year old girls. The moral of the story is not to wait for someone else to fix your problems for you.

The Johnson Family Vacation-my husband loves those Chevy Chase vacation movies, just picture Cedric the Entertainer in Chevy's place. Although I hate to admit it, I did laugh and it was cute.

Catwoman- Just okay.

Mean Girls- It was funny, but some lady left with her two daughters in the middle of it. Don't expect a Parent Trap sequel.

Home on the Range- Not the best Disney ever, but I might be biased because I really dislike Roseanne.

Shrek 2- I actually liked it better than the first.

Spiderman 2- Same as Shrek 2.

The Terminal- If they just would have knocked 10 minutes off this movie I would have really enjoyed it.

The Stepford Wives- I loooooovvve the original. I expected this to suck, but I actually enjoyed it a lot.

Anchorman- Saw this at Dowtown Disney because it was too late to go to the park. It was funny, but the anticipation for Disneyland makes it sort of a foggy memory.

Dodgeball- It was funny. Stupid sound system in the theater cut off the last 5 minutes of the movie though. Thankfully it started back up when the black and white credits started. *eye-roll*

Van Helsing- Didn't really like it much. But I was sleepy so that might've had something to do with it.

Ella Enchanted- I wish they would have called this Ella of Frell or something different than the novel's title. It was NOTHING like the book, but it was really cute.

The Day After Tommorrow- Corny script, awesome special effects.

The Notebook- LOVED IT! Saw it twice. Hehehe, the girly-girl in me I guess :)

Raising Helen- Hit close to home, so it was a little sad to watch. But it was still cute nontheless.

Harry Potter and the PoA- I thought it was really good. I think I liked Chamber of Secrets better though.

13 going on 30- Real cute.

Walking Tall- Shortest movie I've ever seen in my life. Good popcorn movie though.

I rented Local Boys and Donnie Darko. Local Boys I didn't like much at all, and Donnie Darko I thought was good.

I saw The Village today. I wanted to see it early before someone gave it away. It was very interesting.

Seen so far this year:
Spiderman 2 -- today, liked it
Hellboy -- liked it
Van Helsing -- liked it
Shrek 2 -- loved it
Harry Potter 3 -- loved it (best of the three so far)
Around the World in 80 Days (the 1956 version (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0048960/)) -- liked it, but it felt like a long CircleVision movie
Kill Bill vol. 2 -- liked it

There may have been others but that's all we can really remember right now.

Still to come (in theaters now):
The Bourne Supremacy
Catwoman (maybe)
Harold & Kumar go to White Castle

Still to come (coming soon):
Alien vs. Predator
Collateral (maybe)
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
Shaun of the Dead (maybe)
Team America: World Police
The Incredibles
Ocean's Twelve
Blade: Trinity (depending on how we like the first two, which we'll be renting)
The Aviator

Saw Anchorman at DtD too. Don't waste your 10 bucks with this one. We actually saw people walking out of the theater. Yet there were others who were laughing continuously. We stayed because our feet were tired from a day at the park and it was cool inside (plus we paid $10 each)!

Rented this summer (Highly recommend Netflix, BYW!):

Barbershop 2: NOT as good as the first one. Cedric is the only interest
Secondhand Lions: Didn't really know what this was about but it turned out surprisingly good. Very touching.
50 First Dates: Cute fluff
Last Samurai: Very good adventure, and of course Tom ;)
Along Came Polly: Cute. Not a deep movie, typical Ben Stiller
Road to Perdition: Very good
Master and Commander: Bit tedious. Hubby liked it. Guy's movie
Seabiscuit: Very good, tear jerker for animal lovers
Love Actually: Surprisingly interesting, funny. Hubby even watched it twice
Under the Tuscan Sun: Girlie movie. I liked it
Runaway Jury: Snooze

Waiting in the wings (coffee table):
Haunted Mansion: Yeah, I know it's bad, but it's Disney so gotta try...
Cold Mountain
Jerry Seinfeld - I'm Telling You for the Last Time

Alien vs. Predator

I'm very curious to see this one, but after seeing a commercial for it the other day I really have to wonder how in the world this ended up with a PG-13 rating. Have the makers of this film actually seen any of the earlier films in either series???

Alien vs. Predator I'm waiting for this one to fade away, so my screen name can once again be my initials, and not a reference to some dreadful film I have no intention of watching. :~D

I know--Ed and I cracked up when we saw the trailer and the logo for this movie. Sorry, Avp. ;)

Just saw the Bourne Supremacy today. Very enjoyable. Some really wicked car chases in this one.

Finally got around to The Company. I really liked it, though Robert Altman was determined not to have any noticable plot--at least none that I could see. The dance sequences were georgeous--I was surprised at how talented Neve Campbell was, though I found out watching the extras that she was more into dance than acting most of her life. And James Franco was very handsome--I like him better now. He creeps me out in Spiderman.
