My wife and I are going to USH for the FIRST time this September. Can I get some ideas as to what are must-sees? We only have 5 hours (hoping the crowds are less because of back to school).

I'm not a big coaster fan (ie) 6 flags/Knotts. I'm really looking forward to the backlot tour (psycho and Jaws are two of my favs). What re the other rides like? Back to the Future? Jurassic Park? The new Mummy's Revenge? Are they coasters or like Indiana Jones in DL?

Appreciate any ideas/feedback.

the water world show is pretty cool. Lots of jet skis, explosions and stunts.

there use to e a back tot he future ride. It's kind of like a star tours ride, but back to the future themed. I think there's a shrek show thats suppose to be pretty cool.

Jurrassic park is a water ride going past dinosaurs. There's a really wet waterfall. The mummy ride is an indoor coaster. (I haven't been on it, but the reviews say it's really short.)

definate thigns you want to hit are the backlot tour, do that first thing as it takes the longest and you then have the rest of your time there to do thigns. for the "shows" they have Water World, Spiderman Rocks which is a musical. nothing spectacular unless you like music and fireworks indoors. Animal PLanet LIve is a animal show. just trainers showing how they train animals for film and tv. SPecial Effects is a 3 part show on how they make special effects in movies. can be fun if yorue into that. takes about 45 min though, real time eater so be warned. Waterworld is the best show. extreme stunts set around an ocean setting. based off the movie, pretty entertaining. if u feel like getting wet, sit in a wet zone, you will ge soaked trust me. if you want to stay dry, stay in the dry zones, i reccommend the middle section, right in front of the control booth, bext view of the whole show.

as far as attractions/rides...Van Helsing is a haunted house, you walk through it, takes roughly 10 min. can be fun. Shrek 4-D is a 3d movie where the seats move and effects happen around you. lots of fun, highly reccomend it. Terminator 2-3D is basically the exact same thing but with a stunt show mixed in with it. pretty cool if youre a terminator fan. Back to the Future is a ride/movie. same thing as any motion simulator ride. you sit in a delorean and it moves to a movie playing in front of you, it is fun, the movie is old and pretty old special effects, but its still a lot of fun. Jurrasic Park is a water ride, a short ride through some themed scenes from the movie ends in a 85ft drop. you do get wet, however, based on the weather, they now can control how wet you get so if its cool, it is possible to keep completely dry. i have. Revenge of the Mummy is an indoor roller coaster, dont let the roller coaster part fool you. this ride is about as tame as any dark ride in disneyland. it is VERY short and by short i mean like a minute and a few seconds over. if there is a long line, anything over 45min, i would say wait til its shorter, you most likely will be kicking yourself for waiting that long. if you have a front of the line pass, you wait about 10min. but its very tame. Backdraft is really a show but they label it a ride. you stand in a large building and they set fire to things around you. its all controlled, dont worry. gets hot, it is pretty exciting however. you will enjoy it.

seeing as you only have 5 hrs there, this is what i think is ideal for you. you def want to hit the backlot tour. jurrasic park, mummy (just so u can give your own opinion) back to the future, shrek 4-D, Waterworld, Terminator and Van Helsing on your way out. should be a enough to fill your 5 hrs.

Keep in mind!! during off peak times, their hours are very short, AND, they only offer 2 or 3 showings of the live shows per day, i.e: spider, waterworld and animal. So depending on when you go, base your schedule around the water world show. during that time of year, the show usually runs at 12:30, 2ish and one right before they close. if you go on a weekend, they have more shows. just make sure you ask for a time schedule with your park map when you enter the park. they probably wont give you one so make sure you ask. other than that. enjoy your time and have fun!

Thanks for the info...that's great and helps me out a lot. The backlot is #1 for sure. I'm a huge fan of the Mummy too, so I'd do that, as well Jurassic, Van Helsing and Shrek 4D. I was hoping to get a full day in USH, but it ain't gonna happen (unfortunately).

Is the drop at the end of Jurassic comparable to Splash at DL?

the boats are very large and hold like 20+ people. the drop is similar to splash except it is all indoors, the drop i mean. the first half of the ride is outdoors, then you go up a lift hill into a building where there is a few scenes and then you drop out of the building. at the bottom of the drop you are back outside and come to a hault and float into the station.
