View Full Version : Looking for a nice hotel between SeaWorld, Legoland & Disneyland
jrsharp21 07-05-2004, 06:18 PM We are flying into San Diego on August 11th. While we are down there we are going to visit Lego Land, SeaWorld, and Disneyland. I am trying to find a nice centralized hotel that won't break your budget. Any suggestions?
Hakuna Makarla 07-05-2004, 06:56 PM How many nights will you be at both places? if you stay in san diego for a few days like we are why not stay there for a few nights, then off to disneyland and stay at a motel close by there? the travel time would be less and you could have more time in both locations.a nice motel in hotal circle is the seven seas/ nice loking all the amenities and close to sea world and maybe lego land. ( not sure how far away this is)
then off to Anaheim to disneyland to stay close to the park and your room? we are doing disneyland Knott's, then off to sea world, and the zoo. we decided to make it easy and fly into Anaheim first, then take a train( very cheap) to San diego to the other attractions mentioned.saves us the rental car, and hotel in san diego shuttle us .
jrsharp21 07-05-2004, 07:21 PM We are will be flying out the morning of the 15th. On the 12th we will be going to Lego Land, the 13th Sea World, and the 14th Disneyland. We want to be back in San Diego the night of the 14th because our flight leaves early the next day. I am looking for some nice hotels in Carlsbard our surrounding areas.
Just a note - Sea World has a really good night-time show offering that is different than their daytime offering. Several Cirque-style shows, and variations of the popular Sea Lion and Shamu shows.
As far as places to stay - thats about a 100 mile spread of parks. Carlsbad area may be a good choice. The 15th is a Sunday I see - generally the I-5 is very clear early morning. Later, beach crowds can make that drive miserable.

lisap 07-06-2004, 10:31 AM Carlsbad is about a half hour from Sea world (more with traffic) and about an hour ten minutes to DL (more with traffic.) Karl is right--it's might be a good halfway point for you to cover all that ground.
There's lots of high flautin' resorts in Carlsbad, but The Inns of America Suites (http://innsofamericasuites.sandiego.ezhotelsite.com/!/1) is three miles from Legoland, and near good shopping and dining and around the corner from the beach, too. I think it's between 100-150 per night, but check Expedia for better rates.
idesign 07-21-2004, 02:30 PM Carlsbad, Where Legoland is actually located is pretty much smack dab between Sea world and DL resort. The Legoland park is actually not in the town of Carlsbad itself, but build in farm-country along the 5 freeway (what little there is). A Brand-Name outlet mall with lots of good eats and nice hotels is all within a mile or two from LegoLand.
Looks like the best thing is to get up to Carlsbad and get a hotel there for the first and second nights, since legoland is first on your agenda. Then drive down to seaworld and then back up to Carsbad the second night. Now you make the drive to DL the next day and stay up there that night. Sounds like fun. Just look for the huge windmill-restaraunt, thats where most of the hotels and restararunts are.

Noway man.. maybe at ten in the morning but they want to be there for the opening making it rush hour the whole way!
Hour and 15 minutes to get to both SW and DL from LL (parked that is). ;)
Darkbeer 07-21-2004, 04:46 PM DOn't forget it is racing season at Del Mar, every day except Tueday. First Post is usually 2 PM, so driving around Noon around the racetrack can be a BIG pain...

The same applies if you're on the five after the last post (I did it last night).
I'd go either Carlsbad or San Clemente if I wanted the halfway point (pick it, Orange or San Diego County).
As for Carlsbad, the Best Western Beach Terrace is nice AND has kitchenettes...don't know if that's a selling point, but there's my $0.02.

That's why I said more with traffic ;)
