My family and I are heading down to LA. Of course to visit Disneyland and some other things down in Southern California. I'm wondering if anything special is going on at Disneyland during that time that isn't announced on the disneyland website. Also, my dad and I are going to watch a San Diego Padres baseball game on the 11th. Being that I'm from the Bay Area and a SF Giants fan  ,we will mostly be checking out the ballpark except we're not sure what we should check out or whats a good place to eat at. If anyone can give me a heads up on what we need to check out that would be awesome. We leave July the 10th and come back July the 18th I believe. Thanks again. :)

Being from San Diego, there are a ton of good places to eat within walking distance of the ballpark. It really depends on what type of food you want and how much you want to spend. Also, a short drive from downtown is Old Town where you can get the BEST mexican food in So. Cal (in my opinion) at either Old Town Mexican Cafe or Rockin Baja Lobster...both moderately priced.
The ballpark is great. Have fun.
Dodger Stadium is called one of the most beautiful ballparks in baseball by people who go to ballparks for a living. I'll take their word for it.
There isn't a bad seat in the house. I like some better than others (I spent so much time in the stadium proper that I can't really appreciate the bleachers) but I've had a good show in every level.
Be sure to take a radio: Hearing Vin Scully call a game is like poetry. He is the best announcer there is.
Play ball!

Something that people do to avoid traffic is to ride the trolley into downtown. It drops you off just a block away from the stadium and it is clearly evident which way to go. Oh, just make sure you take the right trolley!! And get back on the right one! They are different....
The suggestion of eating in Old Town actually sounds cool. There is a trolley station in Old Town. You can eat there and then ride in to the game. I actually like Casa di Bandini, it is a historic house made into a pretty nice restaurant. They have outdoor dining which is nice on a warm afternoon. Ah, but I still sit in the shade...
Downtown has most of the big places to eat, I don't know for sure the walking distance, though, you could MapQuest what you might want. There is a Hard Rock Cafe, Buca de Beppo's and heck, even a Pat and Oscars'.
If you want to take in a show while in SD there is 'Triple Espresso'. If you haven't seen this, it is pretty funny. AAA has a discount for it, I think.
If you are driving, as opposed to taking the shuttle, a ride across the Coronado Bridge is cool. Before it is dark you {and not cloudy} you will get an awesome view. If it is dark you get a beautiful view of downtown as you look over that way from the bridge. I enjoy a stroll around the Del with a stop at the coffe shop. Of course, they do have a bar for those of you who drink more than coffee and water. ;)
Oh, if you are AAA maybe you may want to pick up their member specials book. It is full of specials which may give you some ideas....
Have fun!
Try Little Joe's for pizza in the Gaslamp District. They overcook it so the cheese has browned spots on top. Yummy.
The bad news is that it takes forever for the pizza to cool off enough to eat and you have to just sit there looking at it waiting in frustration until you can finally take a bite without searing off your hard palate.

I've moved this thread since it's become more about visiting SoCal than DL specifically.
In response to your question about things going on at DL, check the DL Update on MousePlanet that is published every Monday. Here's a link (http://www.mouseplanet.com/parkupdates/dlr/dlr040628.htm) to one from this past Monday.

Thanks for all the info. everyone. I to have heard Dodger Stadium was a nice park. We haven't gone to Old San Diego in a long time so hopefully we'll get down there too eat. I had another question, but I forgot it. I'll post back when I remeber it. Thanks again everyone.
