When we were there Dean Cain was there and being escorted around with a CM with a plaid vest on. He was able to walk up the exit with his kids and ride the ride asap.....Then last weekend Chris O'Donnell was there with his kids and a CM also...(my sil was there and saw him) Anyway.....For those in the know how much does this service cost and who do they consider a "star"?

The "plaids" (as they're commonly referred to) are special escort CMs. My understanding is that the celebrities can call ahead (either directly or thru their manager, I presume) to make arrangements.

For some who are very famous, there's no question at all whether they get an escort CM, because not having one may mean the park guests causing a riot or commotion to get snapshots or autographs.

For B- and C-list "celebs," it may be that it's their version of a Fastpass. Who knows?

I've seen that actor from JAG in the park with his kid, and he had no escort (but I think it was the first season of the show). Not all famous people ask for escorts. If I were famous and I could get away with it, I'd probably opt out of an escort. It would make me self-conscious.

But then... I have absolutely zero desire for fame. If I had to choose between fame and money, I'd choose money -- no question about it. Fame is fleeting, finicky, and makes you lose the most precious thing you have: Your privacy. Once you become a public figure, you can't buy your privacy back (short of paying everybody huge amounts to leave you alone and pretend you're an ordinary person in some tropical island resort). No thank you.

When were you there for the Dean Cain sighting? I was there in October of 2002 and I saw Dean Cain in Adventureland. My husband and my friends were all mad that they didn't see him so I kept teasing them that I saw Superman, lol.

Saw John Elway at Disneyland a couple of years ago. It was sometime in the summer, and he was filming a Christmas commercial or something.

I have a friend who is a pretty famous musician, and from Orange County. When he and his wife and child go to the park, they go without an escort. He says he usually doesnt get noticed, and that makes for a good day.
I guess it depends on your status, and your ability to blend in. The stroller may help him in that way.

Ooo! Oooo! {MouseWife excitedly raising her hand}

The drummer from Blink-182 or Tim Commerford from Audioslave???

{or neither?}

I understand that not everyone gets special treatment and are okay. The lead singer from a big rock group I know took his family and had a normal day, by choice. It is good for their kids, I think. Don't you?

Did anyone see Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro? I saw a blip on 'Regis & Kelly' that they were supposed to be there. I just don't know if it was a commercial for an old show.

Won't say who, out of respect for their privacy, but it wasnt the ones you mentioned...

(though I did roadie for Tim when he played bass in a glam band in the late 80's, but have not spoken with him since that time)

Doesn't Disney have some kind of Guided Tour service?

What you describe seems to me the same kind of benefits you get on the Guided Tour Service

I saw the Travis (the drummer from Blink-182 in California Adventure in late March. He had plaids around him and was speeding to the exit in his wheel chair.

I've seen that actor from JAG in the park with his kid, and he had no escortWhich actor from JAG? If it's the one who's character lost a leg, he's actually an AP and goes to the park all the time w/o a plaid.

I don't watch JAG, but I have seen previews for it. And I've seen that same guy. It's the guy who's a little chubby and has a real round face, right? I actually recognized him as an actor because he played "Ram," the dumb jock in the movie "Heathers." He was just eating lunch with his family in Rancho Del Zocalo, no plaids in sight!

I hear ya. That is also why I said 'a lead singer from a big rock band' and didn't spill my guts either. :fez:

But yes, the drummer from No Doubt, he has a little one. Thanks for clearing the cobwebs, rentayenta.

evilchild666~ That's right, I've heard he likes it there a lot, too.

FEJ~ Aw, wow, Timmy C. was in a 'glam band'? So I don't know everything about him, eh? LOL How tattooed was he back then? I know you have tat's too but dang, do you think he must have been drunk to endure the ones he currently has? And I am not critiquing them, just thinking about the pain!!

Oo, wow. Then he got some big ones done up at once, maybe. I thought maybe it was a slow build up.

I did read up that he got one {perhaps his first?} in honor of his mother who passed away. That is pretty cool.

The person I know, I never did ask if they even tried to have an escort. I think it was a spur of the moment thing and they just wanted to get away and have a normal day with the kids.

Normal being what it is to rock star kids. I commended them for doing it that way as there is so much out there to play with the kids heads. I know these parents {as I am sure most parents} want their kid to have as close to a 'normal' life as possible. {I am glad that people leave them alone, those who go with their kids especially.}

Actually, we have 'ruined' our kids by taking them off season. They hate to go anyplace when it is crowded and are so used to not having to wait too long for rides, etc. But, we don't have any 'status' we just go off season. Or during the week. LOL We even take them to Yosemite off season. Have the place practically to ourselves.

That would be Patrick Labyorteaux. Great actor!

I saw Julianne Moore in the park a few months ago. She was there with husband and two kids - saw her right after her daughter visited Belle. Plaid CM and everything, of course me being a fan of meeting celebrities, had to ask for a picture. Moore obliged - nice woman she is. CM took picture. Nice woman she is.

Oh, GloryBlaze, I didn't mean to knock anyone who asks for autographs. I have actually done so myself. I only wouldn't do it if it brought a lot of attention, and, as you did, I would ask first.

Unless my camera had a zoom lense.... :~D Only to leave them alone! Not to sell to the Enquirer or anything!!

I only saw Leif Garrett when I was about 15. {don't try counting back on your fingers...you don't have enough...}. I was too goofy to say anything but he was sitting behind me while we saw Orleans play.

The commercial you saw was for a repeated episode. I saw them while they were in the park but only while they were on stage. I don't know if they actually got to go around and enjoy the rides and whatnot. If they did I'm pretty sure they would have been escorted.

I believe he is the same guy that narrates all of those great Behind The Scenes shows for both DL and WDW on the Travel Channel (he's listed in the credits). Great voice for it...

Patrick's brother Matthew(?) was on Little House, too. Anyone know what happened to him? Or Melissa Gilbert's brother who played "Willie Olsen"?
