Opus1guy 06-24-2004, 02:17 AM I gotta tell you...Roy's a trooper alright. And he's been through the ringer more than once. I remember when Ron Miller was running the show at some point after Walt died. He didn't treat Roy very well, IMHO. Treated him like some distant snot-nosed relative of Walt's that he had to keep on the payroll. Never realized that Roy had real talent and true business savvy. More than Ron probably had. Big mistake. Underestimating Roy is a big mistake, as Ron soon learned when during the whole Gibson Greeting Card, Arvida, Greenmail mess...Roy pretty much orchestrated Ron's farewell and brought Frank and Micheal in as the corporate white knights. And I'm certain Michael is very aware and has a good memory of just what Roy is capable of, from those days. If Roy once again puts together a salvation team that Wall Street likes, and he's successful in helping them get into place, I would bet the newbies would be more than happy to place Roy back wherever he wants to be. Got some age issues to overcome as far as company policies go. But it could be done. Could even end up with Roy himself taking on the challenge temporarily, just like his dad did before him. But I don't think that's anything Roy really wants to happen. I don't think he's really looking to run the show and be the big cheese. I think he just wants to know the folks in charge are competent, productive, creative, and "get" what Disney is truly about. IMHO. |
