This is kinda interesting but I notice that for a Disney Resort with only two parks, Disneyland Paris has 7!!!

Disneyland in Anaheim has only 3: Grand Californian, Disneyland, Paradise Pier: for two parks

And Tokyo Disneyland has only 2: Miracosta, Disney Ambassador: for two parks

But Disneyland Paris has: Disneyland Hotel, Hotel New York, Newport Bay Club, Sequoia Lodge, Davy Crockett Ranch, Hotel Cheyenne, Hotel Santa Fe! Now that's a lot of hotels for 2 parks!

Note that I'm only counting official within the resort hotels not the selected hotels (Tokyo has 5, Paris has 4, and Anaheim has 6 I'm guessing)

Anyway I thought it would interesting to share.

As for anyone who cares (cuz I'm bored too) Walt Disney World has 24 official Disney Hotels and Hong Kong will start out with only two (Hollywood and Disneyland)

thatll be all

Yes you're right. I think they probably built too many hotels from the beginning (they should have wait for the resort to develop), though I've heard they're doing pretty well.
What I don't understand is that they authorize more selected hotels :( , a Mövenpick Dream Castel (a german hotel chain) is about to open in a few days...
When i'm there for a single day, I usually stay in Paris, but when I stay for a longer time, I prefer to stay in a Disney official hotel.

I don't know about Tokyo but of course DLP is outside of Paris so unless you stay and commute each day (possible but it is 20 miles away and so doesn't give any magic feel) it means people are much more likely to stay on site.

The idea of DLP as a resort is much more intrenched and so people often tend to do their "disney holiday" bit staying in a Disney hotel - then move to a different hotel in Paris for their Paris bit.
