OKay... so I KNOW this is on my end that this happens, but I dont know why.
This past week, I never noticed it before this, I log in to my system in the morning.
I open msn messenger, then Outlook then two broswers. Usually one I use at work first, then MP, which I read then open the pad.
Now, I say open... so I see the main page where I would select the forum I wish to read...
so I wander away... or I open access... I still havent touched the pad.
BUT.. when I finally do come back to the pad, I click , say... entertainment, which says there is new posts.. I read the first new thread, click back.. they're all changed. NOW it shows me the ones that are new as of like the last hour. But I lost the "go to last read post" button on all the others.

I implore you... what am i doing wrong? It's very aggravating. I know... I can seen when the last post was made, click that, and scroll backwards... but that's not nearly as easy, and I'm lazy.

I can't help you with the technical questions, but I just wanted to echo that I also usually have 2 browsers on. I was just thinking...if we always have MousePad open, does it show that we're on all day?!

Mine sometimes does "refresh" when I click back on the browser (not updating), but I don't notice it all the time. I don't know why it sometimes does and sometimes doesn't (is that what you're describing?).

Sort of. The "main" page, never refreshes on it's own, I have to do that manually.
But now the forum refreshes the whole page, not just that I read the "word associaton" thread... or the thread. It takes all the markers away.
Which is odd, becuase I dont read things like the word assn thread, so in order to make the "new posts" go away, I used to have to go to the main page, and click, Mark These Forums Read, and now... its doing that all on its own. So confused

I think what is happening is that after a period of inactivity, your cookies are being reset. A recent thread (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=28339) here in Admin. was discussing ways to prevent automatic logout, which is a similar problem to the one you're having.

Try using this tip (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showpost.php?p=15276&postcount=4) by Andrew and see if that works.

Now see... there were 6-7 minutes between my post and your post.. and it still did it. not 20 like his email.
Its not logging me out, so that doenst help.
I was reading the new posts by the susbscribe function in my CP but I gave up on that when I realaizied that I wasnt seeing the new threads.

But I will try to do what he suggests in his tip.. it hadnt worked for me yet, though I fear thats because I just dont understand what he's trying to tell me. Thanks for trying.

Actually, I've been using this tip (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showpost.php?p=395249&postcount=2) by Mox, and I haven't had a problem with reset threads since. Of course, your mileage may vary.
