View Full Version : Disney Store on the Studio Lot to become Studio Store cryan71 06-07-2004, 05:00 PM Looks like the little Disney store on the studio lot is closing on Wednesday, June 23 and will reopen on Monday as The Walt Disney Studio Store. It was a Studio run store forever and it always had lots of great stuff that you couldn't get elsewhere. Then they converted it to a more-or-less standard Disney Store and the selection went way down, IMHO. From what you say, it sounds like they are going back to how it was run before...even changing the name back. I know this Disney Store was just a drop in the bucket to the total, but it makes you wonder with all the rumors about the Disney Store's poor performance and that something may be up with them...if there might be more to this change. Symbolic at the very least? spectromen 06-08-2004, 09:06 AM Shows how out of the loop I am...I had no idea it had been converted. Can't imagine why, but this is a good sign. I used to make trips to Burbank from Anaheim just to see what that store had! This was circa '92-93. JeffG 06-08-2004, 12:02 PM I believe Disney had stated recently that the studio store and the big Times Square store in New York were the only two Disney Stores that were not on the market. I know they are in the process of converting the New York store to a "World of Disney" like the ones in Orlando and Anaheim. I would imagine they also felt it was imporant to get the studio store converted before closing any kind of sale of the larger retail chain. -Jeff Opus1guy 06-08-2004, 12:18 PM I would imagine they also felt it was imporant to get the studio store converted before closing any kind of sale of the larger retail chain. That certainly would make sense and would explain the changeover. |
