I just installed a new firewall program on my computer that was offered free by my ISP (RoadRunner). I have gotten a few "this might be a hacker" alerts over the past few days, which has peaked my interest. Is there a way to see who these IP addresses belong to? Just wondering, as I am not so savvy in the ways of the net these days.

In a roundabout way... yes...
Write down the IP address.
Go to a command prompt
Type:
ping -a ip.address.here
and hit enter.
What it will do is try to get the FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) of the machine that sent it to you. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It all depends on the IP address.
I get thousands of these packets sent against my computer a day. Be glad you have a firewall.
There is a fantastic tool I use to track down an ip address, and all of the information relevant to it. Go to the following website, and type in the IP number. Select any or all of the check boxes, and you'll get more info than you'll ever need about it!
