Disney Vault 05-22-2004, 07:38 PM how old is your child?
disneydreams 05-22-2004, 07:46 PM how old is your child?
I remember reading a thread awinner started about his boy's arrival. Here. (http://mousepad.mouseplanet.com/showthread.php?t=20863)
So...let's see...his child's almost 8 months old?
ChipmunkStar 05-22-2004, 08:20 PM Um. None.
Disneyland Cast Member are just that. Cast Members. NOT Babysitters. Trust me, people have asked me the same thing while at character meet and greets. The rules are pretty much no. Cast Members are paid to do their job, and they are not usually willing to be held accountable for the wellbeing of your child, even if it is for only 20 minutes.
awinner 05-22-2004, 10:33 PM he is 8 months,,,,oh well, perhaps if I see one of my fellow padders there...they will do me a favor, otherwise by ourselves on the ride :(
Cloud Buster 05-22-2004, 11:29 PM Do NOT leave your children with Cast Members. They are not qualified to take care of your children.
ChipmunkStar 05-23-2004, 02:09 AM Well, the qualifications really don't matter. Some CMs are very good with kids, some aren't. But they're not being employed to babysit for parents who just want to go on a ride.
awinner 05-23-2004, 07:18 AM we will be going solo on the ride (taking turns).... :D
Wesley815 05-23-2004, 12:34 PM It's not the CM's fault you had a child, so don't ask them.
UGH! what is up with parents today?

just settle down ...this was not supposed to be a flame thread...I ask a simple question, I got an answer...end of story. We just came back. We went on the ride this morning, they let people on before the park offically opened. I was on and off in under 15minutes...janice chickened out at the last minute...maybe next time

Hakuna Makarla 05-23-2004, 05:47 PM I have to forgo rides, but at least you guys will be able to go on the rides even if this it is seperatly. I have to kids that will not be going on the bigger rides and so I miss out on some great rides. . Oh well, the thought of just seeing disneyland for the first time is worth everything! It sure would be nice to have other familes who I knew who were going to be there to share baby watches :) **Karla .

When is your trip? Aug ?
kadiehl 05-24-2004, 08:19 PM Personally I would not leave my kids in the hands of strangers no matter how nice they may be...over protective, I am. My husband is a Police Officer and he sees and knows way too much, not to mention, he is the detective for most of the child related cases since he has the youngest children on the force and can communicate the best with the kids they have to work with.
I do see where you are coming from though, awinner. My hubby and I are going in October with our toddler and 8 year old so I will be sitting out the rides that my hubby and son want to hit- I know my hubby will sit out while I ride my faves with my son like Pirates, Haunted Mansion, and so on.
Luckily, we are meeting some family friends while we are there for maybe a day and the Halloween Party we are all going to as well. So, I will leave my kids in their hands if my hubby and I want to ride a ride by ourselve or with our son.
Overall, just watching the kids reactions is the best thing in the world, when they see a character- I do not mind sitting out most of the rides just to see how happy my daughter will be when she sees Cinderella for the first time- and most importantly, Belle! Unfortunately, her second favorite princess will be undergoing "refurbishment" :D while we are there, Aerial :crying: So, I will have to seek out the others! ;) Luckily, being in Fantasy Land and the MK she will be able to ride quite a bit with us except for the scarier ones we would not let her on anyways such as Pirates and Haunted Mansion
ChipmunkStar 05-24-2004, 08:27 PM Not too sure where you mean Ariel be under refurbishment, but I'm assuming you mean at WDW.
If you're going to be at the Magic Kingdom, you could always try at the Judge's Tent in Mickey's Toontown Fair. She has done meet and greets there before, so maybe they'll just relocate her :)

Hey, thanks for the lead! Yeah, I was meaning at WDW world since they will be working on filling in 20,000 leagues and so on while we are there in late October! I sure hope we can meet her some where- that would make my daughters day! We already plan on taking her to Storytime with Belle! Books are her favorite thing and Belle and Aerial are her favorite princesses. :D

Well, if you're overprotective, then I am, too. But I don't think we are. I wouldn't leave my kids with a stranger nor with people I've never met before in real life. One time at DLR I did leave my kids in the care of a very highly competent woman who I knew from the internet and consider a dear friend, but even then, there was at least one person in that group who I knew "in real life" before that day, and at that point, I'd known this woman for over a year and we had mutual friends who had met in real life before meeting up at Disneyland that day.
Just because a person works at Disneyland doesn't make them "safe" and just because a person posts on our message board doesn't make them safe, either- we have no way of screening our members and offer no endorsements for our members. Sorry, it's just reality.
