DLP.info has inside information about the change of the Space Mountain story. The complete Jules Verne theming will be dropped and replaced by a Supernova theming. No more trip to the moon, but a trip through outer space and an exploding sun (supernova). :crying:

One can only hope for the best with change, but I fear for the worst.
I have seen with my own saddened eyes how Epcot was completely and utterly ruined and devastated by the winds of change that some nimrods thought necessary to keep a futuristic theme park "up to date."
The impetus for change is a good one, but often the people doing the changing have not a tenth the talent of those that did the creating.
I am so happy that I at least got to make one trip to Disneyland Paris and ride Space Mountain many, many times. It is the absolute best themed coaster in the world, one of the best Disney attractions ever made. I fear they are making a big mistake with this idea, but only time will tell. Fortunately for me, Space Mountain is (was) such a good ride, and made such a first impression on me, that I will vividly remember my inaugural ride for as long as I shall live.

I also love the Verne theme to Space Mountain, but I feel optimistic about the upcoming "SpaceMontain SuperNova".
First, SM will keep its unique and great "discovery" architecture, and will be even more beautiful after it's being repainted. the inside track will be the same. 3 major things may change : a faster blast off from the bottom of the cannon, the music will change (I love the current... :crying: ), and eventually the mysterious collision with a star...
Sounds pretty good.

But what about the asteriods and the space junk? Will that stuff be gone?
Sorry, but even the same layout, with zero-gravity-imitating inversions and such, will be not nearly as fun without the asteriods!

I think it's a complete waste of time, money, and energy to try to improve Space Mountain, rather than build a new ride in one of the many empty spaces Euro Disneyland still has.
Co'mon Euro Disney, BUILD NEW RIDES !!!!!!

I have a nasty feeling that this idea was inspired by the situation with the original Disneyland's Space Mountain. Shoddy maintenance has caused an 18-month or so down-time reconstruction - and with just a few new effects, they are going to hail it as practically a brand new attraction.
I bet Disneyland Paris figures they can get the same bang for hardly-any-buck.
Such a struggling park is not likely to see any new attractions any time soon. Penny-wise and pound (franc?) foolish, but they will try cheap updates that they can tout as "new."

SM will remain a Space themed ride, so I think they'll keep the asteroids, and probably add more effects.
