If you want to be real lazy, you can just paste a hyperlink into the body of the message, As long as you have "Automatically parse links in text" checked (that is the default) under options, it will automatically turn it into a link.

You can also format the text of the link display text. However, if the link is in the middle of a formatted block of text, for some reason the COLOR format does not carry on to the link text (though to the best of my knowledge, all other formatting does carry over). Weird quirk.

And, if there's anything you'd like to check, you can always just hit "preview post." That will show you exactly how it will appear without actually posting it.
